I just bought an iPod. My first
I got a silver iPod Shuffle.

I got it because I'm going to start working out again and I'm so enamored with the sound of my own voice, that I think that listening to my own podcasts all the time will give that extra "umph."

Somehow, I don't think that this makes me any more cooler than I already am.

True

However, I am not the latest addition to that demographic that tries enhance one's status through nifty technology.

And I really don't care if I look like I am....

Just wait until I pick up that new Macbook Pro that I've been eying lately.

1. I got mine mostly for working out purposes too.

In my case, it's cause they played crappy music at the ice rink I was skating at. :P

*edit* Not an ipod though, I'm too cheap for that. A little 30someodd dollar Zen Stone.

During the course of my wasting-time-before-I-had-to-do-stuff today I stopped by a few stores and noticed that prices on mp3 players just dropped, and now I could get a 2 gig player for the price that I got my 1 gig. D'oh. Ah well. C'est la guerre.

3. Heh, nice timing.

You musta responded while I was editing my post. :)

It's fairly cheap and simple, there are a few mp3s it won't play properly but they're few and far between. I think it's just the really long ones it doesn't like. Like Stairway to Heaven and Bohemian Rhapsody. But the sound quality's pretty good, good enough that you can hear the tiny little glitches on one set of mp3s that I ripped from a badly burned CD.

8. Nifty.
A couple of the other skaters used the little iPod shuffles, they like 'em. Every now and then when everybody got off the ice we'd unplug our headphones and plug 'em into each other's mp3 players to see what the other people were listening to. :)

10. Damn, that sound's cool
However, I've noticed that my DJ'ing headphones sound way better than the standard buds

Despite this, I'll use the buds at the workout joint

Oh, I can't STAND the earbuds.
I had a bad ear infection as a kid and ever since then I've been sensitive to anything sticking in my ears. I use regular padded headphones. They're ten times as big as the mp3 player itself, but they still fit in the back pocket of my backpack.

I tried the kind that clip to the outside of your ear but they're regular headphones, but the clip part was cheap shoddy plastic and one of 'em broke right off the first time I brought it out in public. Good thing I'd planned ahead and I had my regular headphones as backup just in case. :)

9. I know that feeling.
I finally came back to a place that has actual SEASONS. It's spring right now. I mean, real spring. In Florida, we didn't have spring. Just 9 months of summer and three months of not-summer. It's funny how little things can make a place feel like home, instead of just a place we inhabit.

Maybe if I'd grown up the first few years of my life in Florida I'd have been used to it... but for some reason the twenty years I spent there can't erase the five or six years I spent here first. :)

14. Yep... I experienced snow for the first time in 11 years too. :)
I got a little bit when I went up here for Thanksgiving when I was 15 or so. And just to remind me of that, the first snow of the year this year was on Thanksgiving day. :)

13. That's good to here. I had a couple of very good years in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.
I was lucky enough to play for Lawrence Morris.

Washtenaw Community College got me on my feet after the USAF.

18.  I love my 80GB iPod classic.
I upgraded it from a 40GB model that mysteriously disappeared for some reason. But this one is great - not only does it hold my entire music collection but it can also play movies and TV shows as well.

19. I recently joined the iPod ranks myself, Mr Scorpio.
:toast: I must say, I am loving my new 16GB iPod Touch. Like you, I use it while I'm exercising at the gym or on long bike rides. It's really made a difference in the quality of my enjoyment of those activities. Gotta have the great tunes! :bounce:

:hi: Enjoy and have fun!

21. I waited a long time to get an iPod too. Then, when I got one, I fell deeply in love.
Now I don't go anywhere without it. And I'm way into music again, big time. Have fun with it!

And get that MacBook Pro, too. You will LOVE IT! I love mine and will never go back to a tower.
