...the guy I had a crush on at work told me today that he got married Friday. It's not like I had a chance with him, but DAMN!

Aw, sweetie...

You got caught up in a lovely fantasy, only to see it blasted away...

3. I hate when that happens. That is slightly worse than having a crush on some guy from afar only
to finally spend some time with him up close and he turns out to be nothing like you had imagined. :(

We will prevail, and our lives will feel more sane someday soon I believe.

5. That kind of thing always sucks
When I was in college, there was this girl who would study at the same coffee shop as me, and we'd have little chats some times. I was completely in love with her. Eventually I found out that she had a long term boyfriend, and that's in fact why she even went to that university. I eventually became friends with them as a couple, and then when they broke up a few years later, instead of feeling like it was my chance, I mostly just felt really bad for the guy she'd dumped, and didn't like her as much after that.

13. I would never let a little thing like marriage stop me...
please, be more open-minded :)

I did date several women on the marriage/separation/whatever rebound in my younger days. So, you never know what might happen.

14. Nah...
That's not my style. I've had it happen to me, so I'm not willing to be the source of someone else's pain.

15. On a moral note, despite the legal status of said
damsels, I never dated someone who was still emotionally IN their old relationship.

However, I had something similar happen when I was 19. I had just finished my Fr. year of college and I promptly go in a horrific car accident. As I was recovering, my old GF (who I still had hopes for) came over to tell me she was getting married within 2 weeks. I was shocked! Upset! And having just had a near-death experience, very depressed.

I feel for you.

It happens to all of us at sometime on our journey. But look at it this way...the next one could be the real deal. Hang in there.
