Internet radio is a godsend!
Man, I finally discovered all the radio stations that are "pre-sets" in iTunes. Radio Paradise is absolutely un-friggin-real! The best mix of world beat, plain old classics that are acttually good, and rare cuts you thought you'd never hear again. There's no commercials, just a very brief station ID every 15 minutes or so, if that. And the DJ's mix their own playlists, and there are often subtle themes that run from one song to the next, even if they stylistically have nothing in common. Anyone gotten into internet radio yet? What are some other good "stations" (if anything can top Radio Paradise!)?

1. KEXP Seattle
I'm in Texas but I tune in every day for four or five hours of fantastic music from KEXP at the University of Washington, streaming loud and proud from <http://www.kexp.org>.

2. I agree. I like AccuRadio.
I'll probably find better stuff in the future, but for now this is great for work. Listening to "Motel California" -- 70s album rock.

3. If you like the Blues...
Try "Blues on Air" - it's awesome, out of S. Korea. No commercials and nonstop Blues - I keep it on my computer all day, every day. BTW..thanks for the tip on this awesome station you've found, too!

5. WWOZ is the best
"Your Jazz and Community Heritage Station in New Orleans" or N'Awlins if you prefer. Nothin' but jazz all day every day. This being Mardi Gras they're featuring New Orleans traditional jazz a little more than they usually do; it's absolutely worth a listen (www.wwoz.org)

6. KFOG in Seattle
CKUA in Edmonton, AB,
and
Spinner.com (actually now it's radio@netscape plus)

I'm in Texas too. EVERYTHING here is owned by Clear Channel.

One can only hear Boston and Heart so many times before one wants to blow one's brains out.

Secret Agent 128k (for your spy music needs). It's pretty swanky!

http://www.somafm.com/

LA's newest station, Indie 103.1 (now webcasting). This is what alternative radio should sound like:

http://indie1031.fm/main.html

And of course the one that everyone's heard of, Virgin Radio UK:

Shoutcast is a great source for some obscure stations that stream in MP3 via WinAmp (the best format, IMHO).
