WESTAMPTON, N.J. -- A man devoured three cherry pies in 10 minutes to win the first New Jersey Presidents Day cherry pie-eating contest Monday.

Bill Howe, 30, topped a field of nine contestants at the Deerwood Country Clubs Estates community.

Howe received $500 for winning first prize. Cash prizes also went to the second place finisher, Kassiem Robinson, 32, of Mount Holly, and the third-place finisher, Ed Taboada Jr. of Easton, Pa.
