1.  In his memoirs, didn't McCain describe watching that rock form when he was a lad?

5. I've seen that rock.
My geology geek SO has remarked on how interesting it looks when we've been driving on 23 to visit NNJ relatives.

7. Anything that talks about...
the "Silurian Skunnemuck Conglomerate" gets my attention. Not because I know anything about it, but it's just such a neat term.

I remember reading somewhere that Joisey has the most varied geology in the country for some reason. Somewhere in Monmouth County is even a dinosaur burial ground that's had some of the richest finds on the East Coast. They don't tell you exactly where it is, though, evne though there's something locally known as Dinosaur Park.

If you get down to Morristown, check out the Morris Museum-- they have a small but kinda neat geology exhibit.

8. Actually
NJ has had a few dino finds....
I give you the state dinosaur a hadrosaurus

http://www.statefossils.com/nj/nj.html

just down another high way about 15 minutes they found some bones

there is a stream in central Jersey that you can sieve in the dirt and find
sharks teeth, dino bones and all kinds of neat things...

the only problem is
I can't find my paper on it :(

10. That was worth reading just for this:

the word "Skunnemuck" :)

Actually sounds like a Abanaki word, like many of the native names for the White mountains or rivers in NH and Maine.
