3. As with all media, it represents cultural viewpoints of the time...
While newer media is more often to repeat or reflect on earlier media, which makes it more difficult to interpret, this is an easy one:

In the 1950s, McCarthyism was "rampant", the movie was made in America, and it was a brief geographical lesson too. (these days, it's said we can't locate all 50 states on a map! I wonder if some people couldn't find the USA on a global map anymore...)

5. That's how I knew the space program was faking all those trips to the moon.
Their "space" pictures didn't even have COUNTRY lines visible. :+
