My former neighbor has a daughter 1 year younger than mine and they used to play together and stuff. His daughter wants to go to the school my daughter goes to because it has a health academy program, sort of pre premed and the kids actually will be LPNs by the time they graduate. He did some electrical work for my mom this week and he commented that he didn't want his daughter going to THAT school because if he has to associate with other drunk parents at least at the "good" school they won't be stupid. Sort of insensitive to say because MY daughter goes to that school so what does that mean about me? Also I'm pretty sure what he meant but did not say aloud was that it's full of poor families and minorities and he can't have his daughter associating with that. I'm so glad we moved and my daughter goes to an ethnically and culturally diverse school rather than the "rich" school full of self-entitled Republican children, where I happen to know for a fact there is greater hard drug use including parties where they give the girls date rape drugs in their alcohol and then take videos. What the fuck is wrong with people that they're so afraid of minorities and poor people? My kid goes to school with some awesome kids, yeah some of the parents are sort of shitty and negligent but I would imagine at no greater rate than rich people are shitty and negligent parents. And then when you also consider that his daughter wants to attend the prestigious advanced level health academy and he's going to let his bigotry stand in the way of her education. What an ass. I hate people like that.

1. "there's a lot of black people in that area"
that's what a co-worker told me when I told him what apartment complex I was moving in to......which is 500 feet from my last apartment. "I'm not racist so that's not a problem for me," I said - he turned bright red and walked off. :D
