1. Adult Swim

they pack so much into the those 12 minute (or so) toons, it's just insane. And plus look at my sig, gives me away.

2. Futurama and Family Guy versus the Simpsons? Adult Swim wins
though really, pitting hours of programming from multiple shows against individual shows isn't very fair

4. Simpsons
They manage to be good in any language/culture. (be it American, French, German - probably all others too, but I've watched them only in those three)
I have yet to see a South Park (extreme case) that I can find funny or even interesting. Family Guy and Futurama would be more interesting contenders IMHO.

5. "King of the Hill" is the smartest and subtlest of the four
Though many would argue that makes it the least funny. Although I don't know of a better show on TV.

7. that show had an entire episode devoted to voting for Bush
during the election.

is the show still on the air? has there been any doubt or regret uttered by the characters about Bush?

i personally can't stomach it.

9. Well, you aren't a Texan
The show is satire. How asinine would it have been if Hank voted for Gore? And besides, Bush was made fun of the whole time for having a limp handshake.

A lot of people outside Texas and the south don't get the show. I don't see how they could.

10. A bunch of us ex-patrioted Texans, living in Las Vegas
Used to get together every Sunday night and watch the show. At one point there were fiftenn or twenty people crowded in my living room, all of us Texans who were homesick.

I am hank Hill; I used to be Bobby; I've known more Peggys than most would think possible; at night, when my inner Hank is asleep, I am Dale.

Non-Texans usually just don't "get" the show. I, however, think that it's quite possibly the fineest achievement in the history of Mankind.

There's an easy way to tell if someone "gets" King of the Hill:
Tom Landry Middle School. Just the freaking concept of Tom Landry Middle School is enough to make me laugh until I've got asthma.

11. LOL! That's a good system!
Isn't the high school named after Roger Stauback? Yeah, if you don't get the humor in Tom Landry Middle School, you don't get the show.

25. "Daddy? Do you RE ALLY understand ...
...what that man's saying?"

I still have to translate Boomhauer for my friends and family.

I used to date a woman almost entirely because we were both from East Texas. It was odd, though, because our twangs were different. She described it something like "I sound normal, 'cuz I'm from Dallas; you're from them deep East Texas forests -- whenever you drink you sound like Boomhauer."

"Yep, darlin', yer a'talkin to an alumni of Stephen F. Ausitn State University, and a man who thought Nacogdoches was a big-time, sophisticated city -- at least when compared to Texarkana."

I am a Texas Ex-Pat, too. I'm kind of a BoomHauer (sp?) when I type! :P

Tom Landry MS cracks me up every time.

I'm a born-and-bred Upper Midwesterner.

Then again, I used to think "Let's Bowl" (Minneapolis-based show) was the funniest damn thing on TV before they cancelled it. A lot of regional humour in that one too.

13. But Bush has a weak handshake.
And Louanne votes communist.

I don't know if King of the Hill is the best show, but Khan and Min are two of the funniest characters.

26. Uh
The show has its great moments and is smart at times.

But there are many episodes where its right-wing leaning is disgustingly obvious. It can be hard to watch.

"The Critic", on the other hand, is smart and subtle too. It had good ratings on FOX, but since FOX didn't own the show and as such couldn't maximize the profits, they opted to cancel it.

The Simpsons and King of the Hill don't even come close. Adult Swim is funny but not South Park funny.

SP is the show you watch when you want to see something so screamingly, alarmingly, unanticipatedly, utterly unpredictibly funny.

I don't know if it's a generational thing or what, but Invader Zim is like all of the best cartoons combined.

Maybe it's because I'm short and random, but I think Invader Zim is brilliant. Sometimes it's hard to tell Zim's world of morons from our world of morans. :)

It's coming to DVD in May!

When the school bus was hijacked, taking them to the end of the universe, and there was some kind of existential moose...

I still don't know what was going on, but it was one of the funniest damned things I ever seen.

... is by far the best animated series I've seen. Funny and smart, and with a real human touch that Southpark never quite has :)

They are re-running the paltry 12-13 episodes (all they made) right now on Adult Swim. If you've never seen it, you should :)
