Anyone ever try food dye
to temporarily color their hair? Just the roots--the rest looks great, but I don't have time to wash and set it again, and the grey in the roots is spoiling the effect.

Just a couple of drops to temporarily paint the inner portion, and to do a real dye come the weekend. Is this a huge mistake?

1. My mom actually used to use iced tea for her hair
But I suppose that only works if you are a brunette...

3. Nope
Afraid not. Redhead. I just want to comb a little on in the part that shouts I'm not a real redhead! Actually, I am, but I began going gray when I was 22, so it's not fair. :(

2. what color food dye?
I seem to remember that it can be more permanent than desired. I've heard of using markers, but I've never tried it good luck :hi:

4. A few drops of red and yellow,
and a little water to get it to the right spots. I'm going to try it before I'm supposed to go out.

5. Gray hair can be tough to dye.
I think you have to mix the food color with soap; this is to open the hair cuticle and allow the dye to enter. Then you have to leave it on for an ungodly amount of time. I was thinking try crayons or magic markers. Haven’t done this, but I know the crayon will only coat the hair, not dye it. Good luck.

8. Tough but not hard
Easy.... Bleach it first! A lot of hair won't hold dye unless you do that first.

7. It works for awhile
Back in my punk days we used to do it. Washes out pretty soon. But as a quick fix, yeah it works.
