"Do you believe in love?"
That's what my mom asked when I finally told her that I don't believe in god. She is so understanding of my beliefs.

1. Tell her that you believe in love because the Tooth Fairy told you to believe in it
Honestly, what greater justification do you need? You got something against the Tooth Fairy, you godless brute?

2. She seriously does understand my beliefs.
I really don't have anything against the Tooth Fairy. I just don't believe in the Tooth Fairy, that's all.

3. Well, if she understands your beliefs, then her question was churlish

Ask her, if she believes in God, why doesn't she believe in the Tooth Fairy? (Assuming that she doesn't)

6. On what basis?
My point is that there is as much reason to believe in the Tooth Fairy as there is to believe in God. To phrase the question in this manner does, I admit, seem disrespectful, but her question to you was equally so.

This seems like an uncomfortable topic for you, and I respect that, so I won't press any harder than this while we're in the Lounge.

7. I believe in the Lovin Spoonful
Do you believe in magic?
Do you believe in a young girl's heart?
