Having a horrible weekend
I want to cry but can't.

Learned my cousin died yesterday when a train hit his car. It is finally hitting me tonight that it really happened. Doesn't help that my husband is in Iraq and I have no family around here.

Plus, I am having surgery on Tuesday and have to get by alone.

Sorry to be so depressing.... just had to get it off my chest.

2. Aw man
I'm sorry you're all alone. You know, we're all real people. If someone lived in your area and you didn't have anyone there, I'm certain someone would be more than willing to pop in and visit. Maybe bring you a book or magazine or something. Perhaps even some contraband ;)

3. Prayers for you
The saying goes that God never gives you more than you can handle, but sometimes it seems that way.

5. Is there any family that can stay with you for your surgery?
If you have a sister, or your mother could come, you should ask them.

Maybe you have a friend that would hang out with you.
It would make it easier. And most friends would be happy to do it. People like to do things like that - being supportive - it makes them feel good. Don't do the surgery alone if you don't have to. It will ease some of the stress.

10. I hope this finds you better
Don't try to confront everything at once.
Just take it as it comes.
Be well, and I wish you luck.

15. It didn't seem real
until I saw his name in his local newspaper online tonight. It hurts more because he was estranged from the rest of the family for the past year or so... over money owed, which now seems so stupid.

24. That is so sad..
I know so many families who let things like that happen.. and lose so much time together. We never know what tomorrow will bring.. So sad for all of them to have that extra burden now.

Hang in there and again we're all here if you need us.

17. are you a military wife?
Aren't there some sort of support groups that help military wives? If you aren't anti-church, you might phone one nearby and ask for some pastoral care.

22. This is rough!
I can't imagine living with the constant anxiety of a husband in Iraq-- you must be a strong person! I will be thinking of him and holding him in the light.

Also, my sympathies on the loss of your cousin-- that is tragic.

Please feel free to call on us for support-- we are a very kind bunch.

23. I am so sorry, Tolania!
This kind of thing tends to put things in perspective for the rest of us. I will be thinking about you tomorrow and sending healing thoughts. I have had surgery three times and know it can be frightening, especially if you are alone. Fortunately, I wasn't, but that's one of the times that you feel most alone in the world. I hope that it isn't serious.:-(

I am also so sorry about your cousin. What a time to face surgery when I'm sure you need to be with family. Just remember that your DU family is here for you and that we care.
