Hey Back to the Future fans. Conceptual question here.
I thought I would lighten the mood with a debate about a part of one of my favorite movie series. This question will require some thinking. I will ask it and give you my theory, feel free to formulate your own theories.

For those who have seen Part II, while Marty and Doc are in the 2015, old Biff steals the time machine to travel back in time to mess with history, making his younger self rich, and screwing everything over in the process. Old Biff returned to 2015, limping while getting out of the DeLorean in pain. It looks like he returned to the same 2015 that he left. Do you think he did return to the same timeline he left? Why or why not? What theory do you have of what happened in that movie that would make it plausable?

1. Perhaps Old Biff left 1955 before

Young Biff looked at the Almanac, so the future hadn't yet been changed, and therefore Old Biff returned to the same timeline. Maybe? Still kind of weird.

2. On the question of time
Time is not a steady stream, but a churning ocean in a storm.

I have nothing to add to the debate besides that(I got it from Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, a videogame I just won). Back to the Future is full of holes in the space-time area. I think a quantum physics prof wrote a book refuting the premise of the movie and yada yada yada...Folks it's just a fun movie!!!

But yes, the timeline should have changed automatically in my opinion.

3. My theory.
I think that the timeline did change automatically. Think about it. When Doc and Marty were going back to 1955 from the bad 1985, the timeline would trasform around Jennifer and Einstein. Since Marty and Doc were already out of their own time, I think it changed and it trasformed around Doc and Marty while they were in 2015. The street they were on was already a mess so it might not have looked very different. I also read somewhere that Biff was supposed to have died in the alternate reality, after 1985. THis is why Old Biff was in pain. He was not supposed to exist. He was even supposed to have vanished in a deleted scene.

5. He returned to the same timeline

As Doc explains in changed 85, they are in an ALTERNATIVE timeline, when they are in the future they are in the original

And in uncut Back to the future 2, when Biff returns he fades away after limping.

6. Yes I know about the fading part.

7. I'm not sure
Maybe Biff dies because of what happens in the 50s or something

8. He definitely did but shouldn't have.
At that time, he should have returned to a horrible Biffland future.

9. I have only one beef about BTTF:
Why didn't someone publish a REAL Sports Almanac 1950-2000?
