Who loves the History Channel?
And History International?

I know it's the "Hitler" Channel, and most of the shows are about Hitler and Stalin--the various Caesars occasionally make it in--but I'm absolutely addicted to it. Between the History Channel, Comedy Central, and C-SPan, that's about 90% of my TV viewing.

1. And the Discovery Channel. And the Science Channel, and occasionally
the National Geographic Channel.

Yep, that's mostly what I watch, too. I like History International a lot more than the History Channel, though.

2. History International is FAR better
More varied content and a lot of foreign-made programs.

Too bad it's only on digital cable, which I spring for because the almost the only shows I like (other than PBS and movies) are on it: the BBCAmerica Monday night mysteries, Newsworld International, History International, Ovation (although they desperately need some new programs in their rotation), Discovery Science, and (guilty pleasure) the Tuesday night 1950s shows on GoodLife.

4. My parent's place has Directv. I'm stuck up here with 55 cable channels.
I haven't watched ESPN Classic or History International in what seems like forever.

5. I admit it--me too. I turn off most of the non-WWII related stuff.
The funniest thing is how the WWII stock footage has no relation to whatever the narrator happens to be talking about. THese things must be so cheap to make.

6. I do.
I'm not fortunate enough to get the international channel.
Nonetheless, I enjoy watching it because I am a history geek.

8. Love the histroy channel
When I have a day off, it's like i'm in school (but in my underwear). I used to like TLC, when I used to learn stuff like the name implies, now it's just the "hey let's find some stupid new, but not really new, way to redecorate a house" channel.

9. Yeah, WTF happened to The Learning Channel?
It used to be really good, but now it's like you say. It's The Home-Makeover Channel now. Sucks.

10. I watch a good deal still. For awhile I watched alot.
Their original programming(History vs. Hollywood, Mail Call, that show with the bald guy, civilians and period weapons, special documentaries) can be really great. The 4 piece barbarians thing was just awesome.

I can put on the History Channel and just leave it there all night. Also watch PBS, A&E, Animal Planet, Free Speech TV, BBC, TLC.

13. sometimes
I'll flick over and stay but the WW2 stuff is so constant it's usually only 5 minutes. They should rename it the 20th Century history channel though - V rarely see anything older than 1900 - and I've seen doc's on a 1960's TV personality on there that I think stretches the "history" bit.

Hadn't heard of History Intl till now, might have to see if we can get that in Australia.

14. On cable, the History Channel is my favorite...
it is where I usually go for background noise, and when something interesting comes on, I'll take a break and watch it. As far as the WWII stuff, I prefer the more obscure battles and the events surrounding the common soldier. Lately, there has been an upsurge in WWI stuff, and "TR, The American Lion", enlightened me greatly as to who TR was, and what he did. A progressive in the truest sense.

A&E, Discovery, C-SPAN, Animal Planet, AMC, Turner Classic Movies, The Comedy Channel, (esp. The Daily Show), PBS and occasionally Sci-Fi round out my viewing. Lou Dobbs is pretty good on CNN; and FAUX, for 5 min's a day, (just cause I hate them).Being unemployed has its benefits on snowy days.

The History channel is my standard though. Some of the documentaries they put together are great, but seeing Hiroshima vaporized for the 30th time, is a bit much.As archives that were long forgotten are opened and footage never seen before, (at least by me), comes on the air, I am riveted to the TV. Most of the combat footage, especially the color footage, has been in storage and not been seen since during and just after WWII. I think I've seen MacArthur landing in the Philippines 200 times, you'd think he was God or something.

15. I give History Channel a B-
They used to get an "A" from me until they started running
those crack pot Kennedy assassination documentaries.

I enjoy most of the WWII documentaries, and that's what I'm
watching now on History. This one is about American internees
in the Philippines, and how they were rescued by American troops
late in the war.

16. Good in theory
Horrible in execution. There's so much it could offer, but like you said, it's the "Hitler" Channel. Pretty much lost any interest in it on MLK Day. THC did an hour special on how MLK Day came into being, and the other 23 hours were Hitler, Stalin, Osama and Saddam shows on heavy rotation. I kid you not. Heck, even a local channel here did 2 hours on MLK.
