How in the world does a person get a brain infection?
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 11:02 PM by proud2Blib
I wrote in GD yesterday about my best friend's roommate.

He has a brain infection. It is very serious. He is in ICU and is not doing well. So how do you get a brain infection and do you survive it?

Oh and the VA still can't find his records so as soon as he is stabilized they are transferring him to another hospital

3. Hi, Proud.....
My best friend's son had that happen last spring. He was out on the baseball field during a game, and just collapsed.

Spent two days in the hospital....they figured out the infection stemmed from an infected tooth.

4. !!! An infected tooth can cause brain infection !!!!!!
I have a broken tooth that is decaying and a root canal was done on it 2 years ago. Paid money out the wazoo for that.

I can't afford to fix it now , not even within the next year. Well , if I do get a brain infection atleast I will rest in peace rather than face this fucking ugly materialistic life everyday.

Don't mean to freak you out but they can be very dangerous. You ought to get that checked out.

6. I got encephalitis (brain disorder) several years ago, from a damned mosquito bite!
It affected my spine and neck, and I had to take massive steroids to cure the brain and spinal swelling. Steroids totally ruin you immune system, and I was disabled for two years with constant infections and frequent pneumonia and bronchitis.

All over an infected mosquito! 1 in a million!

11. I guess it could be a tooth
On a lighter subject, Proud Jr just now asked me if we could go to Lawrence for the parade tomorrow. He suggested we call you and invite you to lunch and make you stand there in Lawrence watching the Jayhawks. I asked him who was paying for lunch. He gave me a look and walked out of the room.

Anyway, I yelled at him that he was being mean and I was going to tell you that he wanted to trick you. :)

But he could still buy lunch.
I hope he has a great time. I'll be brewing a nice porter. Yum!

14. i hear you can get them from parasites too
mostly you hear about cases in 3rd world countries with very poor sanitation. There were some pictures in my zoology textbook that were incredibly nasty.

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 11:51 PM by bicentennial_baby
It comes from bad or undercooked pork, Not an infection per se, not bacterial, but a parasite. Worms takes up residence in your brain.
