I'm watching Lawrence Welk.
People in funny clothes are dancing to the "A Train".

1. I'm so sorry.

Of course, if it was Soul Train and people in funny clothes were dancing to "Beer Barrel Polka", that would be more likely to succeed at making the news.

9. Did you ever hear Lenny Bruce's routine about a junkie auditioning for Welk's band?
Why are you a scratching like that?

Man, I got a monkey on my back...

A what?

A monkey, man...

You a say you got a monkey? Joe, he's a got a dog. Maybe they a can do an act together!

LW was the consummate musician! Those who diss him reveal nothing more than their own ignorance.

11. I can't find the remote, but I am strangely enjoying it.
These people are real musicians- and as corny as it seems now- its still worth listening to now and then.

14. I can't get over how L.W. was born in North Dakota
and sounds like he just got off the boat.

A real blast from the past, though.

36. Actually, he was Catholic, and quite serious about it
He came from a town where everyone was a German immigrant (there were a lot of towns like that in the Midwest in those days--entire European villages would move to the prairies, and they'd be all one nationality and all one religion.)

28. I was thinking about buying his house a few years back.
A house before he was a big star so it wasn't hugely expensive. I wanted to dig up the basement, cause I'm sure there are tons of bodies down there.
