Quick -- need help recording from a vhs camcorder to vcr before my
husband throws one of the machines through the window. How should everything be set up. The TV has monitor, AV1 and AV2 as well as front options. The vcr is relatively old and basic.

1. Should go into the vcr not the tv

An av plug from camcorder to vcr direct on record and vcr to tv to play. If you simply want to watch it, you can watch it directly off the camcorder by plugging the av out on the camcorder into the AV in on the tv.

5. Doesn't matter if it's going from camcorder
once you hit play it should play on any channel...from VCR it should be 2 or 3 depending on your tv owner's manual. If your VCR is going from the vcr to the cable box to the tv, that might be adding to your frustration.

8. vcr should be on 'line in'
or at least mine has that setting, as opposed to channel. Line in is below (as in 3, 2, line in) the channel # selection.

good luck,
dp

2. Your VCR should have phono(or RCA) inputs
for video and audio. Or at least RF inputs. Out from the cam, into the vcr. Your TV has nothing to do with it.

4. He wants to see what's coming out of the camcorder on the tv so
he can record it on the vcr

6. Don't you have a vcr camcorder adapter?
It's a cartridge that looks like a VCR tape that the smaller camcorder tape goes into in order to play on the VCR.

7. Sorry
Yes, after you go from the cam to the vcr you can then go from the vcr to the tv. I'm not explaining this very well.
