Poll question: Have you bought an album in the last year?
I thought this would be interesting to see. I've bought quite a few, but I'm more careful due to being mad at the RIAA. My most recent purchases were the new ones by Courtney Love and Kylie Minogue. The music on the Courtney has grown on me, but the lyrics grate the more you listen, and that's unusual for her. So I'll keep my B grade for now. Kylie's Body Language isn't as catchy as Fever, but it has great grooves and is more complex. I give it an A- like Fever. So have you bought at least one album in the last year (Feb. 15, 2003 to Feb 15, 2004)?

2. I haven't bought one since 1999.
Ever since free music is distributed all over the internet, why pay? Simple logic. :)

3. Yeah, as a matter of fact
My wife and I just bought the new Jet album and we both love it. These guys are just plain rock and roll. They really sound like early Stones with a little of everything else mixed in. We've been quite pleased.

"At Last" lots of romantic stuff. For Christmas I bought myself a new CD of Santana's Abraxas. It never gets old. Love Santana!

6. yes
not much in new releases, nothing by new artists, but I've bought some older stuff - I presume when you say "albums" you're not meaning strictly vinyl. I haven't bought vinyl for years.

12. CD's or LP's?
Buy compact discs all the time, mostly some "off the beaten track" stuff. In fact, I'm sitting here listening to a cd now by a local father and son band,"The Janeys". They are ok. Support local musicians! There are a large number of bands toiling in obscurity out there who are actually pretty good. If people get out the word, then maybe they can get a contract and radio may just play us some real music.

13. I used the word "album" with a high school student who went "Huh?"...
...because he never heard of anyone calling a CD an "album" before.

Good thing I didn't say "record" or I would have totally confused him.

That made me feel old.
