Watched the Manchurian Candidate yesterday. Wow, what an incredible--and, I'd suggest, timely--film. Apparently, a remake is in the works.

1. A Remake of "The Manchurian Candidate"? Blasphemy!
What a cold war classic...I can't imagine who would play Laurence Harvey's role. And Angela Lansbury was fabulous as the evil mother!

2. don't know about Laurence Harvey's role, but apparently Denzel
Washington is slated to play Frank Sinatra's role. Angela Lansbury was excellent. I didn't know she had it in her, judging only from Murder She Wrote.

4. Angela Lansbury...
She's an excellent actress with a great singing voice. I, too, was shocked at the depth of characters she's played.

3. Well
I think they could do better with it by NOT revealing pretty much the entire conspiracy by the halfway point of the movie, but that's just me.

5. A brilliant, brilliant film.
You're absolutely right about the timeliness of "The Manchurian Candidate". It's so eerie how much the events of the film parallel the Bush White House and the right wing in this country today. Frightening.

The best polictical film and one of the best films ever made. A masterpiece.
