1. Frontier?!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

There goes my Burbank to Denver to Omaha flight. Fuck. Now I'll have to fly through freakin' Salt Lake City or Dallas.

2. I like Frontier, but dammit, they're too expensive.
American just has better deals for where I travel. I think Frontier has better service, plus TV on the planes.

3. Didn't know about Frontier
Haven't had the opportunity to fly them, but I've only heard good things.

I was rooting for Express Jet, but just couldn't see their business working - not now, with oil prices, companies curtailing travel, etc.

Alitalia. It's sad, but a 2-day strike last week didn't help matters very much.

Good luck to them all, I hope they survive and prosper.

4. We just got Express Jet here, and I'm not sure how their business model works.

Don't you have to have some routes to popular destinations? I mean, how many flights from Sacramento to Bakersfield or Tulsa do people really buy?

This whole smaller, cheaper airport thing only works if it's in some proximity to places people want to go.

edit: I'm flying to DC in August. Mind if I PM you before I book to get the skinny on whether whoever I'm thinking of flying with is solvent and flying planes that generally don't fall apart?
