5. I like a lot of Nelly Furtado's recent songs
Very pop (which I'm not), but I hate to admit it but very catchy and nice to listen to.

A genre and artist you would not expect me to listen to.

8. *raises hand*
I like a few Britney Spears and N*SYNC songs. For Britney, I like "Lucky", "Stronger", "Everytime", and one on her new album, "(Do You Want A) Piece Of Me?"

For N*SYNC, I like "This I Promise You" and "Bye Bye Bye". The first one is a lovely harmony, and the second is just boppy and catchy. :hi:

11. All those old KC & The Sunshine Band hits
Back in the day I was firmly entrenched in the "Disco Sucks" movement.

I still hate most of it.

But just for the hell of it I recently picked up a KC& the Sunshine Band CD at the library.

Those songs really were good: catchy, toe tapping and surprisingly decent musicianship.

pick her up, in the rain.
But before I could get to the station in the pick-up truck.
She got runned over by a damned old train."

I like it too! :)

20. That's the verse that got me, right there. Country music doesn't really
have a sense of humor about itself. And so much of it that one might consider self-parody (i.e. cheatin' & drinkin', th'South'll rise agin! etc.) they're actually serious about. So it was great to hear a song like this. Plus, David Allen Coe doesn't sing with an annoying twang like so many of them.

21. You're right. He even says so in the song: "Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman
wrote that song..."

I meant the attribution to be about the performer. I'm smiling just thinking about the song; I'll have to download it to my iPod now...

24. "Jolene" by Dolly Parton. She and Melissa Etheridge did a show on CMT
where they sang each other's songs - Melissa sang that, and Dolly sang "Come to My Window". It was really powerful. Unbelievable, in fact.

Dolly said that a lot of guys come to the show looking like her, only better. She also said, "I don't care! I love all my fans!" and that she'll throw in a verse where she substitutes the words "drag queen" for Jolene and they all go nuts.

BTW, I saw Judy Collins with the Seattle Men's Chorus last December for their Christmas concert. She started her own set with "Both Sides Now", and the evening concluded with "Amazing Grace" which she had everyone sing with her.
