How often do you bath your poodle? She does go outside for potty, but....

stays in the rest of the time. It seems like she gets dirty quicker than the mutt I had before. I have to give her a bath every two weeks - at the latest. Is this what most people with poodle do?

Part of it may be she is a toy poodle and therefore closer to the ground.

1. My Yorke takes a shower once a week.

She's an urban dog; I guess it's the urban dust blowing around, but she gets a shower with baby shampoo and conditioner once a week. Otherwise, she gets really gritty and icky.

With poodles (I just lost the Bichon I had for 13 years-- stroke), the dirt gets into the curls and eventually mats the hair.

Brushing daily helps, but my dog just feels better after a shampoo and blow dry.

the ph is formulated for dog fur and skin. baby shampoo isn`t the best for babies either...

2. She's no Poodle

but she does get a bath at least once a week. You see, she loves to roll in dead animals, cow manure, or anything smelly. It's not for me to understand, it is for me to bathe. She is a house dog too. She's lucky to be so cute.

5. My American Eskimo

doesn't get dirty. Seriously. She can run around in the mud and once the mud dries it falls off and she's white again. She also has no odor (except for her popcorn feet). She has no fleas, either. Therefore, she doesn't get many real baths, maybe three or four a year. She needs to get brushed a lot, though, when I let her hair grow long. There is an EXCEPTION though - sometimes she will find something nasty to roll in when we are out on our walks and then she gets soaped and hosed outside before she can be let back in the house. When she rolls in something awful, it's usually our late, just before bedtime walk, too. Why do dogs do that? Ugh.
