Quick Help!! Need to identify these cartoon characters!!

part of a salt & pepper shaker group am interested in buying, and the auction is up in 5 hours.

Seller does not know, does not mention who these are...just calls them "The Mens"

I KNOW these guys are from some sort of 1930-40s comic strip...but which one?????

1. Anyone??
Am probably going to bid on these, along with the rest of the shakers being auctioned.

I collect unusual S&P shakers, usually porcelain vintage/antique nesting shakers, but I know these two characters are unusual..and the price is way below any antique store price.

Anyway...still want to iD them...

Help?

2. "Bringing Up Father" maybe?
The one with the hat looks like the Jiggs character but I'm not sure about the other one.

That totally rang a bell for me!

And, I believe you are right! And I think the other guy is Dinty Moore, Jiggs' tavern keeper friend.
:woohoo:

Thank you!!!! :pals:

5. Wow-- I don't think I've ever heard of that comic.
Early strips and comic books were once an interest of mine (though I didn't collect them).
