5. Do the Everly Brothers count in the 60s?
They had great harmonies and influenced many other groups, including the Beatles (the group Paul McCartney was in before Wings).

7. I thought about including them, but...

...to my ears, they made their best records between 1957 and 1960. As such, I decided to leave them out. Sorry about that....

You're absolutely right about their great harmonies, though! Just sublime.

19. "Hey Paula" was one of only 2 million selling 45's in '63

Aside from NT, anyone else know the other?

14. Hey, where's Jan and Dean?
A pair of total musical geniuses and you don't even have them on your poll. Sheesh.

15. "Musical geniuses?"

They only had their biggest hits because Brian Wilson wrote for and produced them in 1963. Before that, Jan & Dean's first (and only) top ten hit was four years earlier, with a stupid novelty record called "Baby Talk."

Trust me, there was nothing "genius" about Jan & Dean!

20. I heard Dean Torrence in an interview about 5 years ago
He couldn't get through the interview without throwing a jab at Bill Clinton. A jab coming from a guy who committed purgery in a court of law. Glass houses, Dean.

Anywho, I voted for Simon and Garfunkle.

17. Sam and Dave, by a nose over Marvin and Tammi.
Actually, I think you could add Otis and Carla. The whole "King and Queen" album is simply sublime (is it a collection of every side they recorded? I know they didn't do that much).

"You haven't even got a fat bankroll in your pocket. You probably haven't even got 25 cents."

"I got six Cadillacs, five Lincolns, four Fords, six Mercurys, three T-Birds, a Mustang -- ooooooooooh, I'm a luh-vuuuuuh!"

Still, Sam and Dave have the edge. Good gravy, people, "Hold On, I'm Coming" is better than anything anybody else on that list EVER did. By FAR.
