Poll question: Is it time for spring beer yet?
Hey Beer snobs,

Sam Adams has their White Beer (weissbeer) out in stores. I think this is a new brew, actually.

Anyway, is it time to break out the spring beer yet? Or should we stick with porters and stouts for a few more weeks?

2. Yuck, I hate weissbeer
Ales, porters and stouts all year round for this guy (except for October, when only Hacker-Schorr Octoberfest will do).

4. From one beer geek to another
I think the term White beer often refers to the Belgian White ale style: slightly cloudy and flavored with coriander, like Blue Moon Ale. Then, there's always the Berliner-style sour weissbier, which is more lager-ish and clear.

Good stuff, tho I like the Bavarian-style Hefeweisen too. Yum!:toast:

5. yes
Although Berliner Weisse is IMHO a summer beer, not a spring beer. Funny to see someone familiar with it, I didn't know that the brewing style has been exported. It's almost extinct in Germany, with only two major breweries still producing it. To make things worse it's often sold with fruit flavor in the bottles/cans :puke: .

6. Never been able to buy it here;
I make a batch every couple of years when I want to have an adventure with lactobacillic fermentation. On purpose, I mean.

7. interesting
hadn't heard of that. Something else to look for in the amazing little beer store near me with 100s of beers to check out. I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I go in there.
