Metal Shavings in My Costco Poundcake
Do I just blow it off, get my money back from Costco, call the health department or contact a lawyer?

6. Darn!
I was hoping you'd take the case, Shocks! :hi:

Oh well, I guess it's not like I need skin grafts or dental work or anything. But shouldn't I be compensated for that terrible teeth on tinfoil sensation? :)

Funny thing is that I eventually found three pieces in one loaf. After the third piece, I put the cake aside. Damn good cake!

Gee, there goes my fantasy of a new laptop courtesy of Costco. :(

2. was it Costco's or a vendors?
sometimes stuff like that happens by accident (machine related)..so long as no one was harmed I would let them know and throw it out.

You may get a gift certificate for your good deed in reporting it.

7. It was from the Costco onsite bakery
I believe.

Now I'm worried about all the delicious baked goods they manufacture there! I'm a white flour junkie!

3. I once worked for a lawyer
Who thought his most promising case was a guy who bit into a roofing nail at a restaurant. The guy had legitimate dental bills, but my psycho lawyer boss (I only lasted 3 months) had this huge list of "pain and suffering" issues, like "loss of consortium" which means it interfered with his sex life!

I don't know where he is now, but he would certainly take the case.

But I'd just get my money back. :-) For sure. Plus you could be preventing somebody else from swallowing metal shards if they can trace that lovely batch . . .

4. Just get your money back and let them know.
I once found some stuff in a loaf of bread that looked like cardboard and sent it in to be tested to the baker/manufacturer. It turned out to be unmixed dough. Another time I found a fly under the lid of a can of tuna - before I ate any, thankfully. Once, we found glass in a TV dinner. My husband even once bit down on a piece of metal in a restaurant and wouldn't even tell anyone, even though he cracked his tooth. I would have made them pay for the dentist. But, no, I wouldn't sue anyone.

The worst thing that ever happened, though, was when we were eating green salads at a restaurant and a big green catepillar jumped out. Ugghh. It happened to my husband. I could eat no more salad, but he just got rid of the creature and ate more salad.

I don't consider any of them reasons to sue, unless it is the tooth, and only if they didn't offer to pay the dentist, but, like I said, my husband wouldn't report it.

8. My Dad Used to Tell Us a Story
about how he found a worm in his salad at a fancy dinner party, wrapped it up in some lettuce and ate it. Better that than to embarrass his host!
