My car was vandalized because of my bumpersticker!
In a parking garage in Pasadena by a bunch of Latino - LATINO!!!!! freepers!!! They used a knife to cut up the sticker and chipped up the paint. :grr: Those mother-#@&*%#in' bastards.

The bumper sticker featured W with a stupid expression on his face and said "DARN GOOD LIAR." The pricks cut out the "liar" part. Fuckin' tools!

I've since replaced it with a "Nuke Dissent" sticker from whitehouse.org.

6. No but they were next to my car...
They were maintenance workers in a truck. The cab was open and toolboxes were open. All looked at me and there was a smugness in their expressions. I didn't noticed it until this morning...it had to be them. I'm blowing them in Monday morning.

2. A few ideas
Rubber snakes in your back window tend to deter odd small minded people. As does an inside decal of the Virgin of Guadalupe. You can tape your stickers inside the glass.

I am sorry your car was vandalized. It sucks that people don't support your right to free speech.

8. I Won't Even Share What Happened
to my car, because I don't want lurkers to get the idea - pretty sure it was my former right-wing neighbor. Prior to the invasion, I had one of the "Attack Iraq, NO" stickers -

Then there was the big piles of ugy spit left because of my "No Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld" sticker.

and being flipped off prior to invasion.

Mysteriously however, things have been awfully quiet lately in my neck of the country (red state also) Sorry to hear about your car, and worse it was by my Latin brothers/sisters.

14. So very sorry about your car. Here's a tip for anti-* bumperstickers...
I'd worry like hell about my car, too, if I had any anti-* or anti-RW bumperstickers on it. I have seen too many times what those wretches can do to an unattended parked car.

This takes a little work, but if you're determined to make your bumpersticker statement, then the effort's well worth it.

Have some pieces of 1/8" clear plexliglas cut just a little bit bigger than your bumpersticker(s) at a framing shop or plastic-supply shop. Have a couple pieces cut if you have more than one favorite message. Should only cost a few bucks to do this.

Now, affix each bumpersticker to the piece of clear plexi, just like you were attaching it to the inside of your window. You should have a small margin of plexi on all sides, especially the two ends.

Get a small amount of that adhesive velcro stripping -- you can buy this stuff almost anywhere -- grocery stores, drug emporiums, homeowners' supply, etc. Put some strips on the ends of your plexi/bumpersticker piece, and some on your rear window glass. Bingo, your bumpersticker is attached in your window -- for now.

When you pull into the mall, or if you're going to park your car anywhere for any length of time, you can simply pull off the plexi/bumpersticker piece and stash it out of sight on the floor of your car. When you come back to your car, just re-attach it with the velcro -- easy as pie!

Granted, this won't solve any road-rage you might attract while tooling down the streets, but it will, for the most part, keep the mindless bozos away from your wheels while parked.

Just a suggestion -- :toast:

Another option: buy some of that flexible magnetic strip, attach bumpersticker to that, cut to size - you're done. Easily removed when you leave your car.

22. Here's an even cheaper, easier idea
At hardware stores (not Home Depot; go to a real hardware store) you can buy thin magnetic vent covers made of the same material used in refrigerator magnets and magnetic signs. Simply paste the bumper sticker to the vent cover and trim around it to size. Voila. You don't even have to get adhesive on anything.

16. Negative bumper stickers raise more ire. Try a positive one.
Negative messages usually do nothing but piss people off. I believe the less you provoke people, the safer your vehicle will be. Although it wouldn't be fail-safe, try a bumpersticker in support of your favorite candidate.

(I know that's an oxymoron), that they can deface other peoples property?

I've been on this planet for awhile, and it seems like almost all of the vandalism is done by RWer's. I cannot think of a time when I've heard a Progressive has been involved in such a thing, (although I am sure it has happened).

Must have something to do with the constant barrage of hate they get from the conservative media. Knuckledraggers really suck.

19. It stinks, but both sides do it
My mom, the freeper, got her car vandalized in much the same way. Someone took a razor blade paint scraper to her car in the 2000 election to remove her chimpy bumper sticker. Where does a person on Social security, with a $500.00 deductible get $400.00 to repaint her trunk lid? She got it from me.

I have to admit that I've seen more lefties vandalized, but it's just plain wrong either way.

I have to agree with the poster above: negative stickers seem to get vandalized more often than positive ones.

Most of us - I believe on all sides , actually - wouldn't stoop to such boorish behavior. It's the same thing that forces us to have laws and justice systems - a small percentage of the total population seems to be either unwilling or incapable of hte simple art of live and let live.

I'm not even going to go into the ignorance or slight racism in that comment. She said Latino didn't she? That's a very broad category FYI. Puerto Ricans would be included in that group. Did you know that every single one no matter where they're born are US citizens? Not to mention that Latino would also include anyone (no matter from how many generations of citizens they come from)that has certain characteristics and ethnicity. If you're a white guy the KKK wouldn't pop up in my head right away if I met you or read something about you. I wouldn'y assume that you may not know shit about geography, are racist, like Bush or whatever stupid generalization might exist out there. You're implying that because they were categorized as Latino or whatever the term dujuor is, somehow legal status would be an issue. You're right, it's not knee jerk it's just dumb and close minded.

PS "Hey, I didn't say but them in manacles and chains". That's so noble of you. We all thank you for clarifying.

I guess that proves your "liberal" credentials, doesn't it? Where in the hell did I ever say it was likely that they were illegals? I only implied it was a possibility. Now, even in your noble hysteria, I assume that you know the difference between "possibility" and "probability" Not even the fact that these were "Latino" laborers in a work truck in the Los Angeles area, puts this in the probability camp for me. Unlike you, I am not one to jump to conclusions.

48. First of all I don't need to prove any "credentials" to you or anyone kid.
It has nothing to do with liberalism it has to do with common sense. Then that first reply of yours did not help your argument at all. You made the comment and are now trying to get around it with technicalities. I'm not the only one that interpreted it as such. I would suggest to think a little more before you post. Some of us come to this site to get away from this type of mentality. Could it be a possibility sure anything could be possible. So what? Your comment speaks for itself. The fact that you brought up the INS IS jumping to conclusions, whether you want to admit it or not. Why not the cops? Ever think of that one?

33. Here is a list of things done to my car due to stickers
See fish to left here for an idea of what sort of stickers are on my car. I use magnetic backings so I can change stickers or even remove them incase I need to go "stealth".

I have had 3 sets of stickers stolen off my car. (seriously considering putting a thou shall not steal sticker on the backs of the magnets)

1 set removed and replaced on the side of my car.

My car has been keyed.

I have had WWJD bracelets wrapped around my antenna.

I have had countless pamphlets left on my car.

Notes telling me I did not descend from an ape (oddly enough an accurate statement)

I have been followed into parking lots and evangelyzed(this has an unfortunate effect on the evangelist that they then have to listen to me).

And the ultimate, 10 bibles dumped on the hood of my trunk (all at once). Interestingly they were just NTs. Seems some sects are doing their best to distance themself from the OT.

One other story concerning my bumper stickers. We were shopping at the local grocery store and came back out to our car. There were a pair of little old ladies unloading their groceries in the car next to us. It was clear they had noticed our stickers but said nothing. Just after my GF got in and closed the passenger door one of the little old ladies came over and tapped on the window. Fearing a sermon we cautiously rolled down the window. The little old lady leaned in and proclaimed "We love your bumper stickers."

Fortunately the positive reactions to my stickers outweigh the negative. Which is the point in the first place.

37. I was told by a friend that it could happen to me, too
I was going to put some blatantly anti-Bush bumperstickers on the car, but a friend told me that wasn't a good idea, even here in Massachusetts. Instead, I put on a "god protect me from your followers" sticker and a Darwin sticker, and no one has attacked me. Even my best friend, who is a born again, merely laughed and told me her Jesus is swallowing my Darwin on her bumpersticker. I will be adding a Presidential sticker at first chance of cleaning the bumper.

You're lucky in one respect--they didn't do anything more than attack the sticker. Sometimes people will try and destroy the car or more.

Enraged Ape said this in his thread. I use it here in the 9th circle of RW hell. Go to any craft store and get a sheet (or roll) of flexible magnet.

Stick the bumper sticker to the adhesive on the front of the magnetic media and you've got removeable bumper stickers.

I sport my DU sticker around Houston, but take it off and stow it in the trunk when I park, to avoid vandalism.

42. Very handy for the more controvercial stickers
Though I doubt I will ever sport the "Procreation" fish. That one is just begging for an assault.

49. Have two bumper sticker
Have had quite a few thumbs up, a few fingers, a biker ask where he could get one, truck driver pulled along side and said RIGHT ON. We have bush lied and thousnads died, and bush and cheney go rich did you.
Our only bad moment came when some guy got right on our bumber and followed too close, then drove along side at the light and yelled that he ought to get a gun a put a hole thru my husbnds fu** ing head! It scared us, but I wrote down his license number and we turned it in to police, it was considered a threat. Do know they contacted him, I don't think he'll be yelling at people again. Since then I have put a photo of our granson in uniform next to sticker. He is now in Iraq, I dare anyone to say or do anything now!!We are in central florida.

PLUS if it was your car....youd be pissed too. your car...your property same difference. i hope the wetbacks get deported....they will soon enough. by either committing another offence or when W backstabs them......you know, which ever happens first. oh, and sorry about your car - fucking shame, i say.

55. darn those "non-english speaking illegals"
They show no respect for the language of Shakespeare & Yeats.

Truly, if one wishes to do well in this country, one really ought to learn the language and develop a decent prose style. Ignorance of the rules of usage does tend to identify one as a fool.

This brilliant piece of work above should be truly inspiring. By the way the word is spelled STUPID, ironic isn't it. Maybe the "wetbacks" can teach you some spelling before getting "deported".

65. Calling someone a "wetback" isn't bad?

I'd hate to see what terms for blacks or jews you would find OK. Again deported where. Do you know any of these people? Anyone behaving like that should be reported to the cops and treated accordingly.

51. I recommend putting bumperstickers on magnetic backing
so you can remove them when parked; also, so you can cycle through them.

59. Two stories
1) I got pulled over for not having a license plate on the front of my car. Worse still, I was high, Ididn't have my divers license or insurance documentation or the title of my car (all ticket-able offenses, being high is arrest able). The cop let me go, but took over five minutes to criticize my stickers and explain why I should remove them. He basically told me that he pulled me over due to my stickers (SUCKER - the cop lectured me INSTEAD of giving me multiple tickets!)

2) When my (future) Brother in Law got out of the Army, we all went out to celebrate. As we walked to my car, I notice someone had spit on it (a gross lugie). I cursed. My (future) brother in law laughed, and appologized. He said he spit on my car because I had a Hillary sticker on it.
Someone stole that sticker, by the way.
