Were you ever laid off during a Dem administration?
My mother was laid off in the mid-60s, but it was more of a discrimination issue than economic downturn (they laid off a bunch of women, then hired young men to replace them). I remember many during Reagan/Bush I, while I was working for a computer manufacturer (Sperry/Unisys). I flew under the radar and didn't get the boot in 13 years. My mom and many of my friends were not so lucky. Since Bush II I have been laid off twice. I know I remember reading of closings, etc., during Clinton's administration, but never knew anyone involved in one. There were all kinds of jobs in Salt Lake during the late '90s (at least in my field), I never went voluntarily unemployed.

1. I've been laid off x2 since *
came into office.

I am more than ready for him to go away. Either naturally or unnaturally.

2. I've been laid off twice ....
October 1991 with GHW Bush and November 2002 with GW Bush.

I finally got a job in May 1993, making 16K. When I got laid off, I had jumped a couple jobs and was making 71.5K.

Hell, if a Clinton in office can do that for me ... go Hillary! (I'm still on the fence with the candidates)

4. Yes, during Clinton...BUT...
It was not because of a poor economy. It was because our company was doing so well that we were bought out and moved to another state. I chose not to relocate, hence, the layoff.

6. NO
but 2x during Bu$hCo II.

I've been gainfully employed since 1970. Only layoffs ever were during Georgie Butch's FAAAAAAbulous economy.

7. Nope
All my employment/financial good times have come under a blue umbrella and all the bad times under an elephant.

I've always considered this to be coincidental, but...

10. No, but I saw whole dept. in company laid off in one day in 2001!
It was a very sad sight and scared the shit out of the rest of us.

The next day they started moving our seats and desks around. "reorganizing" :eyes:

They're out of business last I heard or were on their way out.

I had to check my dates back to Richard Nixon 1969-74 and the first time I was laid off was in 1974.

11. Yeah, 2001 seemed to be the year for layoffs
A bunch of engineers at Unisys got laid off that year. They also closed the PC board manufacturing plant next door.

14. Oops! I was thinking 1991!! Damn, where is my head?
Junior Bush was in office in 2001. Of course, there was a big downturn after 9/11. I know eBay, where I worked for a good portion of 2001, was alot more strict and fired more people than it had before Bush was selected.
Possible the dotcoms crashed then too.

16. Yep. By a Republican whose son couldn't get anyone to hire him,
so she canned 4 productive (and grossly underpaid) people to give his worthless ass a big paycheck and keep him off the street and out of her house.
