... my dad had a German Jewish mother, and a German Socialist father (who had a Jewish grandmother).

Tracing my mother's family back, it's a lot of Jews marrying Catholics or Christian Orthodox and moving from country to country around Eastern Europe/Russia.

German and Russian, two cheerful peoples, are my happy family tree.

That's it. Well, ok, there is some Norman blood if you want to trace far back enough, and maybe a bit of Spanish or Portuguese (my mother and my grandfather are unusually swarthy for full blood micks). But I'm sticking with 100% Irish.

Mrs Bluedog is a different story. She's got bits of English, French, Dutch, Norwegian, and Confederate in her.

my mom will accept it again. My dad is from Canada and he's not French so it's English for him.

BTW I dated a guy from One of those countries, (I honestly don't remember if it was Yugoslavia or the Chech republic and he told me that Looked like an eastern European woman. I found that interesting because we usually only label people by looks if they are darker skins like Italian or something else quite different......to us that is.

85. European to the core...
German/Scotch-Irish on my mother's side, German-French (Strasbourg/Strasburg, anyone?)/Irish on my Dad's. Possibly a bit of Native American on his side too, but we can't document it.

Needless to say, I'm pretty pale and freckly!

86. Canadian
Newfoundland and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia,

Beyond that, all celtic: Scottish, Irish, English. I don't think there's any Welsh there, but you never know.

Now, in real life, it stays Irish and English mostly. If I go back another generation, I might find the Scottish again. (I was adopted within the family, my egg donor was my adoptive father's sister.)

88. Irish, Scottish, English, Welsh, French, German, and Greek.
That's what I know of for sure. All but the German is from my mom's side of the family. She has a few fairly detailed family trees going back about 200 years. My dad doesn't have any family info like that, though his grandparents did supposedly trace back their family lineage nearly 300 years, so... Who knows what else could be in there?

89. A whole pile
Scots/English (Scottish/English borderlands to be exact), Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, German, Czech and Slovak. I also have a forebearer who was illegitimate, so there's probably something else in there I'm not aware of, either.

100. Irish, Swedish, French and Portuguese
Allegedly, I'm related to a Swedish Count who squandered his fortune to gambling and migrated, probably to Canada. In the late 1970s my grandparents made a pilgrimage to Sweden and visited the castle that he once owned.

On my Dad's, with apparently a bit of Cornish from living in the Slate belt for generations.

Describing myself as "mostly Celtic" seems to work in this case.
