2. It's not on your list...
But I'm going to watch SharkSkin Man and PeachHip Girl, I hear it's pretty good! :-)

4. So have I
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 07:20 PM by khephra
Darn, I forgot the store had that one too.

I also picked up House of the Dead. It's supposed to be one of the WORST horror films of all time. There are some nights that bad movies are great, you know what I mean? The night before VD is a good night for violence and bad movies for me.

13. I love "bad" horror flicks
I love almost all of the Full Moon movies. I even liked Resident Evil. As long as there is a decent sense of humor involved, I will watch! :-)

7. Thumbs up for Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl
It's a lot of fun.

BTW, I read somewhere that "Peach-Ass Girl" is a more accurate translation.

Party 7, by the same director, is not quite as insane, but still worth a look. It's got a self-styled superhero named "Captain Banana" whose pasttime is peeping on motel patrons from inside a secret chamber at a motel.

6. Junk is aptly named
What a disappointment.

Ichi, on the other hand, is good clean fun for the whole family.

8. You DO have the uncut version of "Ichi", right?
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 09:01 PM by MercutioATC
The effects are a little over the top at times, but I liked what a female friend (who's really into violent flicks) said: "I felt kinda dirty after it...like I wanted to take a shower."

Ichi might not me perfect, but I've not found a better example of the genre.

9. Damn, it isn't. I'll have to get a taste for it and see if I want
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 08:40 PM by khephra
The full version.

I also have for later a film I've already seen that's pretty over-the-top--"Once Upon a Time In Mexico".

10. Lemme know if you want to borrow it...
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 10:08 PM by MercutioATC
...you pay postage and I'd be happy to loan it to you.

Decide after you see the edited version. Maybe that's enough for you ;)

(on edit)

It's in Japanese, with English subtitles (except for one actress who seems to speak Japanese, Korean, and Japanese with varying subtitles). Not as bad as it sounds...you get used to it.

16. I found out that tonight was not a subtitile night
So I'll have to give my opinion on the film later.

12. Might I recommend Happiness of the Katikuras
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 10:05 PM by Az
Lets just say its a Japanese horror/action/musical/comedy with amongst other things a pedophiliac zombie sumo wrestler that sings and dances.

My Uvula! - Happiness of the Katikuras.

14. We had a thread on that movie ages ago
I tried to convince everybody here that they absolutely had to rush out and see it, but they ignored me as usual. :-( I have seen "Happiness" about 6 or 7 times now, I make all of my friends watch it and I always have to watch it with them! So far, only one person has been completely turned off by the movie and he is pretty out of it in terms of popular culture in general.

15. I LOVE Miike's movies
Happiness is just one of them. He's one to watch. Eventually he'll try to do an "american" film.

17. I loved "Happiness of the Katakuris"
The actor who played the father was Kenji Sawada, who was a huge pop star during the 1970s when I was a student in Japan. He was considered "the David Bowie of Japan," and was a big favorite of the foreign women--including me.
