It's official - I'm having a small DU gathering on 4/19
I was thinking it could be post-poned again but it's definately happening.

Please PM me if you're interested in coming to the first state for a small party. I'll have some Dogfish and Boxed Wine. I have the big Weber grill for burgers and a lil grill just for you vegans.

Hope to see some of you here!

6. I have standards you know
I suppose I'll have to buy a case of Miller Lite for the hokies that won't drink Dogfish.

And I bought that mini-grill with your fricking wife in mind. I don't want the juices of the meat burgers touching her vegan burger

12. She's not a vegan -- she's a peskytarian
I've never seen her consume Dogfish, but I'm sure she'll take that over Miller Lite.

19. The only meat she'll eat is fish
It's really called "pescetarian," but it's pesky, so I call it "peskytarian." If we're going to eat together, it has to be a vegetarian or fish meal.

8. Only for those paid in the state of Delaware only
YOu don't think I'm stupid enough to pay the tolls for all of the folks coming from Jersey

PS - DMB is a DE/NJ toll - so that doesn't count

but I checked - the tolls from the DMB get split between the 2 states

16. I'll have Olive Garden cater only if I want the death threats from the neighbors
Trust me - if you meet them you'll understand. My next door neighbor makes me spaghetti all the time.

But if it makes you feel better - lunch will be catered by Stoltzfus Meat Stand at the New Castle Farmers Market

You've had a little bit too much "percussive maintenence" done on yourself (I assume as an engineer you know what that is)

32. When are you guys going to be coming up here
We could also go to the Wal-Mart of liquor stores and get the booze together - ie Total Wine on Naemans Road. Although Frank's Union is where I usually going.

I probably could use some help with food and stuff. Just bringing things like chips and what not. But we could get them all here in DE since we don't pay taxes here

Turtlensue needs to pop into this thread, we will probably be coming up together, possibly with others depending on where they are relative to us. Looks like driving is cheaper than the train (boohoo I love trains).

35. When's best for you?
I was thinking of leaving fairly early 8ish I suppose. Any later than that and we might run into aggravating traffic.
PS--how do you feel about sharing a hotel room?

36. Sharing a room is fine, much cheaper
Leave at 8:00 am on a Saturday?! I was thinking noon-ish so I can run in the morning but we'll work it out and figure out whose car to take. My aunt lived in Wilmington and it was like 2.5 hours taking 95. I'm getting directions to avoid the toll on 95 but I doubt it will add a bug chunk of time. I'll check back later, I've got a dentist appointment this morning and work is looking crazy today.

37. Why not do your running in Rockford Park in Wilmington
It's a lovely park - I go walking there myself

As for the directions - it's easier if you get off at Aberdeen in Maryland. MD is a bit sneaker than us - they put tolls on the back road but ask for the sticker. Take route 40 all the way up to DE RT 1/7 and I'll pm you directions from there. Google would have you taking 95 to my house but I have an easier way.

You'll add about 15 minutes on to your trip but save about $10 in tolls. And if you get the sticker from the Aberdeen Bridge - that $5 is good for a year. Heck, PM me your address and I'll send you mine - I haven't put it on my car yet and you can just give it back to me when you get to DE.

38. What sucks is there is no connection between Elkton and Newark
so you can't take MARC and/or Septa up. I can take public transportation all the way from Wilmington up to I believe Boston. (NYC is $35 round trip).

MARC site said that they will have a train going into Newark DE sometime in 2015.

Boohoo!
