Pierce Brosnan out as "007" James Bond?
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 04:11 PM by Paragon
http://www.commanderbond.net/Public/Stories/2264-1.shtml

As now reported in many news sources around the World (including: Chicago Sun Times & MKKBB), CBn can now confirm from its own sources close to the negotiations for Bond 21 that Pierce Brosnan will not be returning to the role of James Bond.

Brosnan had previously stated that he was good for five, perhaps six films, tying him with Sean Connery’s term with Eon. This no longer seems to be case.

...Negotiations finalising Brosnan’s Bond 21 contract are said to have ceased, and the search for the next James Bond is well underway. Though no replacement has been found at this time, filming of Bond 21 is still reported to begin in early 2005. Eon Productions is said to be waiting to make an announcement until Brosnan’s successor is named.

But even when the sixth James Bond steps into the gunbarrel, for many Bond fans young and old, Pierce Brosnan’s tenure will cast a heavy shadow over those that follow for he succeeded in entertaining millions. CBn wish Mr. Brosnan all the best for the future, and all the best to the forthcoming Bond number six.

1. Sean Connery

Sean Connery was never typecast as James Bond. He has had a VERY long and varied career.

This is a mistake for Pierce Bronsan.

3. good
Brosnan is my least favorite of the Bonds! Jude Law or Ewan McGregor are names that I have heard thrown around previously. What about an American Actor with some good language training? :)

7. Variety isn't confirming that news
Quelling rumors that he may be replaced, Pierce Brosnan is expected to reprise the role of James Bond for a fifth time in the 21st movie in MGM's spy series, which is being readied for a November 2005 release, Variety reported.

11. I read last fall that Brosnan was out and they replaced him with some guy
I can't remember. I immediately thought of Timmothy Dalton though...the new guy looked like he would suck. It was right around the time the Maytag Salesman dude died in 03.

Jude Law and Clive Owen. Here's 2 shots of Clive, since he's not as famous yet--altho he's starred in several movies lately...

24. Don't think it was Pierce's fault as much as the stupid stories...
the unexceptional scripts written at the 3rd-grade level, and the ludicrously, boringly overwrought action scenes that made the Connery and Moore movies look like documentaries.

There used to be such wit, creativity, and surprise in Bond movies. Not anymore. Not for many, many years.

20. Rupert Everett. Make James Bond gay.
I'm quite serious here.

It certainly would shake up the James Bond franchise.

25. The James Bond films need better writers, period
Remember how the scripts were so great, you can STILL quote from them?

"That's a Smith and Wesson, and you've had your six."

"I'm Pussy Galore."
"I must be dreaming."

"I hope you don't expect me to tell you any secrets."
"No, I expect you to die, Mr. Bond."

"I've never shot a midget before, but there's always a first time."

Quick: What are some priceless quotes from the Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan movies?

(crickets chirp)
