3. Simon.
You know, from "Simon and Simon."

You'd think Beloit College would have more famous alums than that.

But you'd be wrong.

Hell, "Vince Whitacre, former primary candidate for U.S. House" is probably one of Beloit's most famous grads.

Only person to be awarded a Nobel for science and a Nobel for peace.

They're building a new high school here. There's a bit of contraversy about who to name it after. Some guy named Avery who was apparently involved in founding the town, and Linus Pauling, father of modern chemistry and the dearmement of nuclear weapons movement. It's come out that Avery was a big supporter of slavery before and during the Civil War. Pauling, on the other hand and according to freeper LTTEs, was a communist traitor.

Fucking idiot freepers.

Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 05:16 PM by VelmaD
went to one of my undergrad schools - East Texas State University - which was East Texas Normal COllege when he went there and is now Texas A&M - Commerce. Blech.

John Denver, John Hinkley Jr, Meatloaf, and Sheryl Swoopes all went to Texas Tech - my other undergrad school.

And I went to grad school at the University of Texas. The list of their famous alums is too damn long to even get started on here.

110. I'm jealous!
I really wanted to get into their Tech Writing Masters program. It's supposed to be one of the best and most competitve in the country.

But then the bottom fell out of the industry and all the jobs are going contract, so I've been considering things like Public Administration instead...

107. Since no one else is claiming O.J. Simpson...
I'll pretend he went to USC.

Our non-murderers have included the Duke himself, John Wayne, former U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher, astronaut Neil Armstrong, opera singer Marilyn Horne, film director George Lucas, actor John Ritter, columnist Art Buchwald and too many superb athletes to mention.

When I attended in the '80s, I knew -- or knew of -- plenty of aspiring actors/actresses on campus who achieved some level of fame: Anthony Edwards, Ally Sheedy, Kelly Preston, Ted McGinley and Byron Allen.

Two friends of mine from the student newspaper staff became regulars on CNN, Paul Vercammen and Casey Wian.
