They just came through and informed me that my department DID NOT win the agency's Valentine's Day decorating contest...again. x( I don't know what else I could have done...there are little red heart-shaped lights, and tinsel in red and white and pink with little hearts on it, and little hearts and cupids on the front door. Sheesh. I went on a VD decorating bender yesterday and still we didn't manage to beat Legal this year. I'm starting to think the judging is rigged. *pout*

On the bright side...we did get a pecan pie for our department for "participating". So the day isn't a total loss. :-)

and while they weren't from Legal, they were from the same side of the building. No one from Finance or Business Services or Audit was included in the panel. Totally a conjob. :-)

10. I feel your pain!

One year we had a pumpkin carving contest. One of the categories was "Most Original". So I did something totally unique.

I went out, bought a pumpkin pie, carved a face in it (and used candy corn to decorate) and STILL didn't win.

On the other hand, I *DID* win the winter one. We use rolls of paper in our printers which leave small plastic tubes behind. We took them made a tree out of them and put lights inside. It was beautiful.

12. I like your Halloween idea

I'm still smarting over Halloween 2 years ago. I made a cake for the silent auction. It was round and decorated to look like a big smiley face. It had a big plastic meat cleaver stuck in it's forehead with red gel icing dripping down to look like blood. I didn't get the highest bid and people looked at my funny. x(
