5. Boycotting V-day

6. It not bad if you avoid the commercial aspect of it

I have two daughters who get a big kick out of it. So I usually make cards for them and cook up a gourmet dinner for them and my wife. I never go out to eat on V-day or Sweetest Day. Now there's a Hallmark holiday if there ever was one. I jokingly refer to it as Swedish Day.

7. We own a bed & breakfast

so it's a full house weekend of a bunch of folks who are trying to be romantic. The phone has rung off the hook the past couple of days with procrastinators finally waking up to the fact that THIS weekend is Valentine's day.

Sadly, I am afraid too many of this same type is going to realize that the country HAS BEEN going to hell in a handbag AFTER the elections. It's like the primaries 15-20,000 people VOTE in a state, but that night 11,000,000 people VOTE for their choice for American Idol.

8. We're getting Papa the cat this weekend

We were supposed to pick him up yesterday, but he is recuperating from his dental extractions, so we've decided to wait until Sunday. We're very excited. We've been stocking up on canned food and catnip toys. :D

new TV set to replace my ancient 20-inch piece o' junk; getting a progressive-scan DVD player; and all the fancy-shmancy component video cables needed to get everything going in high resolution!

12. Tonight, after work, going out for drinks with a coworker.

Tomorrow my hubby and I are going to an early movie, late lunch and then, whatever!??!!!
Sunday we have friends coming over. On Monday my hubby has to work and I don't, so I will catch up on laundry, etc.

Our weather is supposed to be really crappy so I figure I'm gonna huddle under a blanket and read or watch movies or hang out on DU and try not to think about the fact that it's Valentine's Day and that I don't have anyone handy to cuddle up with to stay warm. :-(

15. Hey, I got roped into going

I've seen the play about 5 times already and it's not one of my favorite plays. But hey, I've got to be a good dad and go along with the plans.

Personally, Id rather stay home and tie one on.

I know...cliche.

But I cooked us an amazing Valentines dinner last year, so this year I get feted.

Will also get some new perfume and another giftie of some sort. Sunday, book shopping! We've been having to be good lately with a huge car insurance payment due, but now we can spend a little dough.
