I'm a bundle of nerves
I don't know what's happening with work. We find out today. It may be my last day regardless. We had problems with our last paper and ur publisher is blaming the fact one of our reporters left early last week. I was supposed to leave early today. My sister is gettting married tomorrow. It's up to a 12-hour drive depending on the weather. Word is he has said he doesn't want anyone to leave before five. Should that be the case I'm going to tell him;

"Since I started you've known I needed a day off to go to my sister's wedding, I'm leaving here at eleven. If that means I'm fired then so be it."

Fucking asshole.

Last week everything was fine and dandy.

1. If you don't make a stand, you WILL be there until five.

3. For a normal boss,
that statement would be directed towards those who are expected to stay all day. As it is known that you are planning to leave early (I would guess there's some vacation time involved), it would not apply to you. I suggest you ask your boss about that, gently reminding him that you need to leave early. Do it politely, and he will likely tell you that you're good to go at 11:00.

discuss it with your boss courteously but firmly. Do Not lose your temper.

Enjoy the wedding and congratulate your sister for us too.

4. Hmmm - I dunno how ur $$$ situation is
.
.

but by ur Avatar it appears u live in Canada

and if you leave without permission

the boss CAN fire you

and you can be disqualified from both EI AND Welfare if you are dismissed with cause,

and it's up to YOU to prove you didn't - -

Believe me, I speak from personal experience --

of course,

if a job or $$$ are not an issue

go for it !
