The Big Give
First, is anyone watching the show, which is a show produced by Oprah, in which contestants have to help people in different locations. Second, it seems that beside a few people, carlana, Stephen, Eric, and Cameron most of these people are lightweights. On last night's show the contestants were required to go around Denver, Colorado, find people who needed help, and help them.

Carlana found a guy who had a niece who was mentally challenged and therefore could not communicate with family members. Carlana raised $5,000 so that the family could get the girl an assessment and get her a communication device. In addition, she raised an additional $5,000 so the couples son could at least begin to afford to go to college. In the case of Stephen, Eric, and Cameron they decided to help out one of the oldest orphanages in the state and in the country. They ended up raising $200,000-$300,000 for the orphanage, which allowed for a playground to be put up and for repairs to be made to the building.

Some of the other contestants did okay, but they did not seem to do that much. One of the other females worked with a Boys and Girls Club. She donated a number of items for an end of the school year auction and was able to get Jay Culter of the Denver Broncos to give a signed football for the auction and make an appearance at the Boys and Girls Club. This seemed to be pretty good, but it was not that much. Other contestants did similar things like just giving people a spa day.

Angelo was one of the more disappointing contestants last night. After finding a former soldier who was struggling Angelo set out to help the soldier. Angelo visited a local Friday's to ask the manager to allow him to have a banquet in honor of the soldier. The manager agreed and at the beginning of the banquet the manager informed the soldier and everyone at the event that all the proceeds from that day would go to the soldier. Earlier in the day the contestant had been told that by the end of that challenge they had to give away the Ford Edges they had been driving. After the restaurant manager made the comment about the proceeds, Angelo instead of giving the car to the struggling soldier decided to give the car to the restaurant manager. As a result Angelo was booted from the show.

1. I haven't seen the show.
I don't know.. it seems a little trivial to make a "game/reality show" about people who are seriously struggling. JMO.
