The NYT/History Civilization Channel...the most schizo channel ever!
It's weird. One show on the Gulf War 1 or 2 comes off as propaganda, but tune into another one and you're actually hearing things that you normally only hear about on DU. It's REALLY disorienting sometimes.

1. TLC, Discovery and The History Channel are all similar
Sometimes they can be incredibly provocative, and sometimes they can be frustratingly propagandist!

2. Too Many Military Hardware Shows!
History Channel has gotten way too far into a military hardware demo channel. Showing the "history" of the smart bombs that we still have is questionable programming, i would think. And, i don't care if Mail Call gets canceled tomorrow. What a stupid show.

4. True, but they show some great programs, too.
I've learned a lot from the History Channel over the years.

Oh, and I was addicted to "Wings" on the Discovery Channel, being an aviation buff. Granted, I preferred the historical aircraft, but I found the shows interesting.

Mail Call can be stupid, it's also good for a laugh or two. However, I like the more historical items, not the current stuff. R. Lee Ermey has just about gotten to be a parody of himself which is amusing at times.

5. They also go through cycles of showing a lot of Roman/Greek
history, which is much more interesting to me.

Mail Call...well, it's a guilty pleasure for me. It's too over-the-top for me to find it offensive. Lee IS a parody of himself these days.

3. The one show I'm watching this morning is about
Saudi Arabia, and they did about 15 minutes on the Bin Laden family being flown out of the US after 9/11. It's really weird to see an in-depth discussion of that topic on TV not being pushed by Michael Moore.
