1. There are DUers whose hatred of hunting and hunters

is so maniacal that it approaches parody. These individuals have referred to myself and other hunters as "cowards", etc. Other than that, no.

for the hunting, and one nite because a guy was just irrational. He was making no sense, and talking alot of hate.

Defending Cuba's right to sovereignty (not Castro's) is a sure route to a bashing.

Being called a "Castro apologist" apparently isn't considered an attack by DU admin, while calling admitted supporters of Bush's Cuba policy "Bush policy apologists" is considered an attack and will get tombstoned.

Anyone who has been here for a year or so has had at least a couple of occassions when they've been called names, had their lineage questioned, their honesty suspected or their virtue impuned.

Most of those who launched with the vitriol or spewed nasty-toned screed are long gone now.

It's against the rules here to attack a poster personally. They can attack your ideas and even your allegiances, but not you. Please be sure to alert (the link on the far left bottom corner of every post) on any individual who may do such a thing in the future.

Sorry you've had such an experience here. Most of us are pretty well-behaved.

I elaborated in post #9 People sure do take things personally in GD04.

That was clearly a personal attack.

I have a couple mod warnings too. I had to read the rules again because I didn't realize what I did was against the rules.

I said "Kerry haters" and that's against the rules. And a broad brush statement against a certain candidates supporters. Got nailed for that too. I wasn't even riled up, just didn;t realize it was against the rules. So I need to read all the rules again.

And hang in the Lounge for a while.

9. The one that happened to me was deleted. I guess they got a warning.

I had said in a previous post that I did not hold it against Edwards for not volunteering for Vietnam because service was not mandatory for him. I said it was an unpopular and unjust war and no man in his right mind was going to volunteer to get his ass shot off if he didn't have to for Vietnam.

Well this guy came along and nuked me. He had volunteered and said that I called him someone that was not in his right mind and that I suggested that people who volunteered did nothing worth honoring.

Did I say that? I don't think so.

Then he went into some dramatics to cyber-spit on me.

About a month ago I posted on somebody's "I'm leaving DU" thread. After they posted they were leaving they didn't actually leave and I called them on it repeatedly. They sent me an obscene PM. I alerted the admins and the person got banned. It rocked. :-)

I do. Someone on here that always says they will KICK YOUR ASS hates it. It doesn't bother me. If they want to hide behind a keyboard and call people names, well they can do that. I didn't hear any complaints from the people at our Austin Super Bowl Party. I had a deer meat smorgasboard. I am on that persons ignore list. Whoopteedoo. I will still hunt no matter what.

Once I posted a thread about how the biggest thing that bugged me about Free Republic was how badly the site was put together and how I found it hard to navigate.... and immediately I got two DUers attacking me for being "stupid." They were saying things like, "I bet we'll lose the elections if the voting base is as poorly educated as you," and shit like that...DUers! NOT freepers! They were actually DEFENDING free republic to me! I thought I was in bizarro world for a few hours. One of them had a post count of over 1000 posts, but outed himself as a libertarian during the course of his rant at me.

Thankfully, ten times as many DUers came to my defense....I seriously couldn't believe it.


Since then, it's been pretty quiet....I believe this was on New Year's Day of this year....I'll do an archive search and dig it out just to pick at that scab again.

But, darn, sometimes they can be so absurd it's funny! (i.e., being a minority firearms owner, I'm somehow a closet KKK'r. Or, because I own firearms, I'm refusing to be a responsible member of my community)
