Microsoft has confirmed leak of source code
Statement from Microsoft

On Thursday, Microsoft became aware that portions of the Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0 source code were illegally made available on the Internet. It’s illegal for third parties to post Microsoft source code, and we take such activity very seriously.

We are currently investigating these postings and are working with the appropriate law-enforcement authorities.

At this point it does not appear that this is the result of any breach of Microsoft’s corporate network or internal security.

At this time there is no known impact on customers. We will continue to monitor the situation.

2. It is bad and it is good...
(BTW I am not a computer expert but I play one on TV) The bad part is that no matter how much source code was leaked, if it can be compiled, will basically give malicious people a blueprint of the OS. They may be able to find security flaws, back doors, and other scary stuff. However, this could cause a change in the M$FT way of development. It could really open up the door to better, and securer, OSes in the future. Bugs and security glitches are the one thing that give MS a bad taste in many computer pros mouth. It had to happen some time. Now you can finally be happy if you are one of the ones with good ol' Windows 3.1. You can laugh at us and say "stupid people" :) (wows its late)
