Anyone with inflatable airbed experience?

Which brand is the best? How do they feel? As good as a regular bed?

2. Not airbeds as in fancy kind, but cheaper inflatable kind. Think aerobed...

Or some other brand, it's temporary and I'm not looking to spend more than a $100 or so on it.

3. Oh. Air MATRESS?

That's entirely different.
We have a Bed in a Bag that works OK.
Use it when we run out of bed room for guests.
Single mattress, electric pump.

6. I found a Simmons model at WalMart

in the bedding department. I was about $80 and Thomcat slept on it when he was here. No complaints from him. :-) It has a built-in electric pump and is tall enough you don't feel like you're sleeping on the floor.

16. they are fine for one person

we have an AeroBed (the tall kind that stands as high as a regular bed) that we lived on for a couple weeks when we were transitioning from AZ to NM

4. We have 2 queen-sized for guests and what-not...

...I've not had any complaints. These are Aero-bed like (I bought them here in Spain) and are quite comfortable and stable.

5. I have 2 Aerobeds....

They're fantastic! I can't compare them to other beds as I haven't tried others for a long, long time (like 20 years).

I have a bad back and had to sleep on one when I was taking care of a family member with cancer -- slept on it for a month. NO problem! My neighbors used to borrow mine for guests -- one of their guests who also has a bad back went out and bought one because it was so comfortable for him.

I highly recommend them. They're always going on sale, too -- I'd just keep Googling until you find a good price.

7. Air beds are great as long as you don't have cats

I went through a number of Colemans and Aerobeds before I bought an expensive model enclosed in enough foam to keep my cat from puncturing it. I like a really firm bed so I prefer an air bed to the conventional spring type.

8. I didn't like it

Slept on one when we visited my brother in Cali; it was my niece's (she slept in the living room, gods bless her). I thought it was pretty uncomfortable. It was a bit better once we let the air out of it a bit. But I wouldn't choose it over a regular mattress.

And I think the hight matters. The thin ones stink ... but her tall queen size is pretty good ... and I'm a big guy ... its probably not great for 2 people ... but its way better than a sleeper sofa.

thought the Aerobeds were too expensive, so I got the Eddie Bauer brand, and my friend thought it was great.

13. I'm sure you get what you pay for

I slept on one many years ago and my only complaint is that, like waterbeds, you have a lay down/roll over on them carefully so that you don't "bottom out" on the hard floor. Other than that, I slept like a baby.

15. I had a simmons a looong time ago, came with a quilted cover/sleeve-

1/2 " padding on the sides, 1" on the top; zipper close along one side. 20 mil thick vinyl queen mattress with "pockets". It was very comfortable and lasted a good 6 years before the seams started leaking. Only had to "re-fill" every other month for the first three years, then once a month until it finally started dying out. I had a decent padded box spring from my previous bed as support, most people I knew with air mattresses tended to drop them in an old waterbed frame, but I found the box spring was far more comfortable.

I had cats, too. Just kept the claws trimmed, and the quilted cover had no problems protecting the air mattress.
