1. What a crock! God will give you the correct math answers...
Each panel shows the same kids, but a different teacher.

This should be kept as a classic example of propaganda.

3. Wow. How you reached that terribly biased opinion is beyond me.

Did you even look at the picture? The more obvious view for me is: One is a right, the other is a choice. That is the difference the freepers and the silly radical right wing (not shared by mainstream) religious folk don't understand. The mormons and Islamic fundamentalists and those kinds of religious organizations are as much for these kinds of schools than Christians, in fact I belong to a fundamentalist Church, part of a larger organization and they will not join a school vouchers program because they don't want the gov't sticking their nose into the Church school's business!

4. From the picture, it looks like the public school needs the most help.
The private Christian school, on the other hand, doesn't seem to need our tax money.

I guess the anti-voucher crowd is pretty smart, after all.

10. Yep, that cartoon backfired.
Bad Editor! Bad!

The editor should have caught the obvious potential for misinterpretation.

Unless, of course, the cartoonist was trying to maximize his earning potential, by selling this cartoon to both sides of the issue.

Wuss.

5. That is a joke and a half. The public schools and one of the private
schools had their school picnics up at the park on the same day last summer. Guess which group was asked not to come back. If you answered the private school you get one of the cookies I baked today. :hi:

9. They were out of control. A water balloon fight, super soaker fights...
they left balloon fragments all over the place. The boys were chasing the girls (8th graders) into the women's bathrooms. It was quite a scene.

17. It wasn't fun. They destroyed the place and got in the way of other
people trying to have fun. How do I know? My daughter is a student at the private school Jason. It was extrmemely embarassing to be part of it. And it wasn't fun at all. And they are now banned from holding their picnic at that park because of a bunch of really badly behaved children.

8. ?... I really don't get it.
Is the point so obvious that I don't see it, or do you have to know some basic tenet of the fundies that I am not aware of?

Someone please lead me to the water- I promise this horse will drink...

12. Just because a small sect of wackos say something doesn't mean
it represents THE 'Christian' Church. Again I belong to a 'fundamentalist' Church who is part of a large organization of Churches who will not accept school vouchers because they do not want the gov't intruding into Church business. Our schools are large and are fully funded by the parents of school children and those children whose parents can't pay are helped by the Church membership. People who obviously aren't religious lump all religions into one lump and all fundamentalists into one lump when it does a disservice to the truth to do so.

and I don't do that.

People are responding to this ridiculous cartoon. It isn't a general discussion of all religious people.

Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 03:04 AM by ComerPerro
Where the teacher is telling the children that 2 plus 2 only equals 4 because God willed it to be so. If He wanted, he could make it so 2 plus 2 equals 5, 6, 7, or anything.

22. Blech... Chuck Asay...
This guy is the biggest tight-assed fundy jerkoff "cartoonist" ever to lift a pencil. I was introduced to his scabrous BS in the newspaper whilst visiting the in-laws in Colorado Springs (the CS Gazette, AFAIK one of the few papers that advocates flogging in schools).

His "humor" is about as funny as broken wrist--I've had two of those, and they ain't funny.

May his karma ripen quickly...

:wtf: What happened to the Puke smiley????

25. How to translate this cartoon:
The Christian school didn't accept the kid who thought 2 + 2 = 5
The Christian school kicked out the kid throwing the wad of paper
The Christian school put the kids who were talking and making noise on "final warning," then called their parents who, after paying $10,000 to get their young'uns into this place, are very interested in their child's education
The Christian school has a volunteer mother to do all the scutwork so the teacher can prepare for class before class and not doing it, whereas the public school's parent body figures it's the school's job. The Christian school also has room monitors to shut the kids up quick before they disrupt the class.
The Christian school has very, very low standards--that Christian school's floor looks to be on 12:2 pitch.

I haven't figured out the kid behind the public school teacher yet.

28. It's from roofing calculations
A 12:2 pitch roof rises two inches for every 12 inches of run. This is a shed roof.

If you have a 12:4 pitch roof (also written as 4:12) that's 20 feet wide (meaning the ridge is ten feet in), the ridge is 40 inches above the eaves.

The floor should be flat, and it's not.

29. Well duh!
Uh, the class on the left needs more money so they can hire better teachers, more teachers, and whatever else is needed.

The folk on the other side look well enough to me, so why should I support them with my tax money?
