Today, I am un-fucking-believably GREATFUL for what I have.
I am employed at a job I don't hate, where I am so competent that nobody has supervised me. EVER. Sure they're stingy on Vacation, but the BCBS is paid for and they fill up a Medical Savings account to cover deductables. Plus, it's marginally recession proof; an enormous positive.

I have two cars, paid for, with good tires, fair gas mileage, and no rust.

I have one credit card with a balance, to be paid next month.

Deb is working at something she actually likes and is getting paid well for a change, and it's recession proof as well.

Gwen (daughter) is living with her mother now, and is not making life Hell in our house, and is actually adjusting well to New York.

My extended family has stopped being such colossal assholes, and is actually a little bit welcoming for a change.

We are all healthy, the latest marginally invasive exams say no cancer or other disasters.

The dogs are all healthy, without a vet bill for over 2 months.

The pain in my leg is lessened thanks to NURONTIN, and a nerve block to fix it altogether is planned.

Cailee (other daughter) has a singing role in the local community theater production.

My SIL has a job pending after 7 months...a good one.

On a personal level, things are very good.

Soooo...when will the boot drop?????????????????????????????????

1. I posted this because I've seen so many here up to their necks in it.
Disease, poverty, personal problems. I almost feel like I'm bragging here, but I wanted to say that after so many years of turmoil, debt, and chaos, the even keel has presented itself, and I wish you could all be where I am.

12. Expressing gratitude for what you have is not bragging.
I'm glad that things are going so well for you. I really hope that things stay this way or get even better for you!

:)

2. There is no other boot. The universe is going barefoot today.
What abundance you have in your life! Have fun - enjoy!

3. I am so happy for you Tyler.

I find it wise to list all the positives in one's life once in a while. It helps with perspective.

One just for you:

Reinhold Haart 2006 Piesporter Goldtropfchen Erste Lage Riesling Spatlese

The only problem is that although delicious NOW, in about 3 years it will be AMAZING.

7. I will have to go search that one out...
This is the riesling we have been drinking lately:
http://www.guntrum.de/10075.0.html

It does not hurt that it is the riesling in Mr MB's portfolio and so we have lots of samples to taste :D

8. I had a CASE of a Piesporter Goldtropfchen 1973 in 1977.
A BERNAUSLESE. 12 bottles of heaven, and then I lost my job in the 1978 recession. It was the last thing I had left other than my car and my records.

I refused to sell it. Instead, I spent a week drinking them, then smashing the empties in the dumpster.

One of my LOW points, unlike today.

To go the other route, some of these wineries, as they say:

...produce a domestic wine of little distinction, but you would be amazed at their presumption! Never got a complaint at one of my barbecues, and the Cherry goes exceptionally well with my ribs.

10. I would not consider that a low point.
I am sure Mr MB would do the same with his case of 1995 Opus if he had to.....

There are some pleasures in life that are worth more than the money spent on them.

Fine food and fine wine are two of them.

4. Good for you, Tyler. My daily spiritual practice is to give thanks for all we have.
Having an attitude of gratitude keeps you in the positive flow of being open to the many blessings of life.

It's all about perspective.

9. Bad News
Such a great positive post, but there is a dark seething undercurrent in your life.

Ready?

You can't spell. It's G-R-A-T-E-F-U-L.

I'm sorry to stomp on your buzz, but someone had to tell you.

11. You've paid your dues and it's time for everything to come together for you.
I'll bet someone else living your life could list a dozen things to complain about. It's all in your attitude and you've got a great one! Enjoy it every second and don't fret a bit about the other boot. If it drops, you'll be in a good, strong place, well situated to deal with it! :)
