What is your all-time favourite television programme?
Hands down, mine is "Twilight Zone" by Rod Serling. This sci-fi drama was done superbly in black and white. To me, nothing else comes close. (And, I love to watch the marathons which are usually broadcast during holidays. Yum!)

What's your favourite TV show?

10. 'Gunsmoke' was a classic. The fifties were great for "westerns".
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Wild Bill Hickock, Nick Adams, et. al.

'Have Gun Will Travel', 'Bonanza' and 'Rawhide' were all pretty cool shows, too.

except for PBS, C-span, etc.

That said, my opinion is that Seinfeld is (was) the best ever to emerge from network TV. I never tire of selectively watching Seinfeld reruns.

Holds up well over time. In fact, it's even more relevant in many ways today.

Only 17 episodes, so it's manageable. Terrific use of color, and the scripts are imaginative and clever.

Scared me to death as a kid. The one that scared me the most was the episode where the President was killed and replaced with a foreign agent who injected a serum that made his skin totally plastic. I got a feeling that fiction in the 60s is today's reality....

24. I have two
Seinfeld and Fawlty Towers.

Other shows that I've found to be consistently excellent:

The Simpsons, MASH, Law and Order (the original flagship show), The X-Files (early seasons only), The Wonder Years, Three's Company, Star Trek:TNG, and both the Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits.

Some lesser recognized favs:

Farscape, Newsradio, Kids in the hall, "It's Gary Shandling's Show", Perfect Strangers, and Quantum Leap.

The only current shows I consider "must see" are Monk, 24, Scare Tactics (a great show on Sci-FI), and The Daily Show.

25. Tie between Twilight Zone,,,and Firefly
Firefly may even get the edge for me, because it only lasted 14 episodes and was fiercely incandescent in its brilliance, which I, sadly, was only able to fully appreciate recently when it emerged on DVD.

27. I went to summer camp with Rod Serling's daughter
She was older than I was, so I didn't really know her, but I saw her Dad when he visited. He was a very small man, which surprised me. His daughter was on only child and only interested in horses, as a teen-ager.

I have so many favorites, it's hard to choose. Perhaps "Bewitched." I think all little girls of my generation wanted to be Samantha.:-)

38. Yes, Twilight Zone was a ground-breaker in its time.
And I loved X-Files, until Mulder was virtually written out, and
um - bit of a sucker for Buffy, until the last couple of seasons.
And when I was a teenager, I adored Robin Hood - Richard Greene
had the most fabulous voice. And early Star Trek, especially Mr
Spock. You can practically see the sets wobble, but I can still
watch it.

52. Dick York
When I was a kid watching the show, I was totally oblivious to the change in Darrins.

Now, I'm partial to the more neurotic Darrin as portrayed by Dick York. (Dick Sargent eerily reminds me of my ex... so that might have something to do with it as well.)

55. x files, a cross between the outer limits and night stalker
superb writing and acting, and just the right sense of paranoia to fit the modern age.

the arc stories over several episodes sustain tensions well, provide both confusion and enlightenment, and the stand alone episodes are amazing in their blend of creepiness and suspence.

also, gillian anderson is hot.....beauty and brains.

every time i hear "Wonderful" ('Oh so wonderful, my love') by johnny mathis i think of the mutant peacock family episode.
