I'm betting my whole fortune ($2.76) that Michael is the captain of the boat. I cannot believe that they STILL haven't said who it is. Day-um.

And am I bad person if I still can't work up much sympathy for Juliet?

Plus, just logistically, Harold Perrineau's (sp?) name is still in the credits, and the buildup is huge as to who the mole is, plus we haven't seen the captain yet. It's gotta be.

Oh--and--there was that note in the teaser for next week, that said "Don't trust the captain."

On edit in response to your edit (although I knew who you meant! :) )...um...no?

But who's to say he didn't have his credentials fudged...

We know that Sayid and Ben end up working at least together but Ben probably has the ability to time travel so Sayid could be his "guy" on the boat.

10. So, I guess it's safe to 'assume' that the Oceanic Six
are actually survivors of the plane crash. So, thus far. Kate, Jack, Hurley, Sayid.

Aaron doesn't count. Ben doesn't count. And it looks as those Sun might one of the six based on tonight's teaser.

48. The "teaser" at the end said that the sixth survivor
would be revealed next week and it hinted to "someone from the past" which has to be Michael. And, yes, I think that he is Ben's man on the boat but not necessarily the captain. I don't know from where the reference to the captain came.

This brings us to five. I hope that Sun is the sixth, to save her and her child.

12. the ending of this episode blew me away
What happened between Ben and Locke??? Did Ben say something to stun Locke into submission? Did he say something to make Locke trust him (which is STUPID considering Ben shot him and left him in a ditch to DIE), or was there some sort of fight and is Locke un conscience or hurt in some way???

Speaking of the ending...Hurley has a love/hate relationship with his luck, doesn't he?

I know most people think Michael is on the boat and they have many reasons to think so, but I would love to see it be someone COMPLETELY different.

19. I think Locke, like us
wanted some answers.

I think Ben's actions have a lot to do with what he said about how tough it is being the leader. He knows that walking around freely is going to get the others pissed off at Locke; note Sawyer's reaction when he sees Ben.

22. Ben got under Locke's skin with the "has the revolution happened yet" remark....
and yet the revolution seems to have happened now.

Regardless of whether Locke trusts Ben, the rest of Locke's followers don't so with Ben free, the entire dynamic is thrown off.

37. e's playing a very good and a very effective Iago to Locke's Othello.
I think Ben himself was the catalyst for the revolution simply by asking of Locke, "...has the revolution happened yet?". He's playing a very good and a very effective Iago to Locke's Othello; Ben acting as a midwife to the birth of Locke's suspicions, which in turn leads to the (upcoming?) revolution.

Locke's already pissed off Claire, Hurley and Sawyer-- the setting is there for an overthrow. Viva la revolution!

44. Ben could just as easily have accused Locke
Ben could just as easily have accused Locke, as he did Sayid in the flash forward, that he thinks with his heart and not his head. In Ben's eyes, Locke is also too "soft". Locke is trying to be a badass like Ben, but he can't keep up. (Then again, nobody can keep up to Ben's level of pathological ruthlesness!) Thus, Locke just comes across as an asshole, and his "followers" won't be afraid of walking all over him when the time comes. So...will Locke's people end up doing exactly what Ben wants? (Probably...) I'd like to see Ben play chess--he knows ALL the moves ahead of time.

Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 11:35 PM by halobeam
Des called Penny 12/24/2004 eight years after he got her number in 1996. What year is it on the island?

This is so much fun, though I'm totally confused and I don't care. LOL!

Plus she said she's been looking for him for three years, and I don't recall if when she mentioned she spoke to Charlie if she gave a time frame..

If that is Desmond, I wonder why Widmore would bother roughing him up? I don't recall the 1996 Desmond telling Penny about the island yet. Could Widmore know that he was time traveling?

As usual, I have more questions than answers after this episode.

If we could bring them back from the grave, how about that really bizarre episode that did not belong there at all, where there was a couple. both given a powerful poison that would just knock them off, but the others thought they were dead and, essentially, buried them alive?

31. I've got a question about this entire season
Somewhere I got the idea that this "fast forward" was an alternate future which lead me to believe that this wasn't necessarily the way the story was going to end. Am I mistaken about that? Is this something that at the end of the season they're going to say "psych!" and we're going to find out that Charlie didn't go out to that under water station and they never contacted the ship? With the current plot line I'm not sure I can see how they're going to fill up 2 more seasons.

After Sayid's fast-forward episode, it seems like the end of the series will involve an all out battle for control, or perhaps destruction, of the island and the people who have kept it a secret this whole time.

I was wondering if they were going to go back in time and rig it so none of it ever happened--not the plane crash or anything after that. (If so, that would piss me off royally!) But didn't Faraday tell Desmond (when they were talking at Oxford) that you can't change the future? Or am I remembering that wrong?

According to an interview with the writers, Lindlehoff and Cuse, the flash forwards are definitely THE future. They even say that the idea of alternate futures, etc, is too easy; one can do anything if that were the case.

46. Some of my thoughts
Ben "owns" Locke. For some reason Locke is very susceptable to con men and manipulation.

Michael is the odds on favorite to be the insider. However, I don't think he is the captain of the ship. He doesn't have the qualifications.

I thought the lover interest Ben showed, made me look at Ben in a new light. Up until then he was purely a calcuating manipulater. Now he shows that he is a love sick puppy. Not that it makes him any better or nicer, but it was interesting that he showed a weakness.

The people on that freighter seem to have a lot of inside information, themselves. After all they knew of the power plant, the chemicals, that the others had used them and where it was and how to disable it. That much info means they have to have their own insider feeding information.

The freighter could be part of Penny's rescue efforts. After all her father is running things, and may not tell his daughter everything

Why did Ben take her to see the body? What was he trying to accomplish with that move?

This has got to be the most disfunctional group of survivors I have seen outside of the game show of the same name. There is no trust, no cooperative efforts they are just constantly playing their own games to achieve their individual goals.

53. I am not even sure that this is weakness in Ben
for him it is just a possession, the way the kings of previous centuries treated their wives and mistresses.

He took Juliet to see Goodwin to, first, show her that he misses nothing. And this is what Harper was warning her, that Ben would harm him.

And, of course, the shock to actually see that gruesome mode of death with the wood stuck in his chest instead of just being told that he was killed or him being poisoned, for example.
