I am so bummed.. My eye surgery I had today..failed
About 45 minutes into the surgery, the Dr said.. "We cannot continue, the eye is too damaged.."

He's going to refer me to UCLA Med center to see if they can do anything for me, but it looks like I may be S.O.L...

shit!

The iris was entangled and fused to the cataract, and something else inside the eye was "not right"..

So I guess I will have to give up my modest little dream of being able to pass the DMV eye chart..and will once again have a "ride-along test"..

back to the drawing board..

Now my next challenge is the mammogram I "flunked" last month and the ensuing cavalcade of doctors for that extravaganza.. :(

3. I'm sorry
I hope the docs at UCLA can help.

And I hope the mammogram thingy turns out to be as much of a false alarm as the last one I "flunked" was. I almost wrote "as much of a bust", but I am not leaving myself open to the inevitable comments that would have prompted.

9. I'm sorry
I'm partially sighted in one eye - and don't have great vision in the other eye. Nothing to be done to improve my vision in either eye. I fear DMV eye charts. I fear further lose of vision. And I would rather go to the OBGYN or have a root canal on a broken back molar than go for a simple eye exam.

Don't give up though. I've seen some really amazing stuff done to improve vision. I know a man who had shingles in his eye that left it badly scarred. Over time they did lots of different things to try to improve his vision. He had a similar experience where surgery was interrupted because the eye was too damaged. He was referred to a teaching hospital and given the opportunity to have a new procedure. His surgery was videoed and observed by a group of about 20 eye surgeons. And it was completely successful. His vison now is such that he only needs glasses to read.

I hope you have similar good results.

10. Hoping the referral brings you better news.
Don't stress about the mammogram. Women often "flunk" for any little reason. Of all the women I know who have, none had anything significant. Just be patient until you get the results, but please don't place any undo pressure on yourself.

Keep us posted.
