1. Well, Garrison Keillor WAS my neighbor...he's pretty weird.
I just found out that Garrison sold his house down the street, probably because his next-door neighbors are building a monstrous two-story garage. He can't go too far, though, because he still does his show from the Fitzgerald Theater downtown, and he still has the bookstore a few blocks away.

Other than that, there's the world's 2nd-largest ball of twine in Darwin, MN. It was collected by one man over the course of 60+ years. It used to be the biggest until a decade ago, when some upstarts in Texas decided to outdo him. Fuckers.

We also have a couple of Paul Bunyan statues: one in Brainerd, and one in Bemidji.

Somewhere there's a picture of me as a three-year-old standing underneath this statue, in tears. My dad is originally from the area, so we used to go up there at least once every summer (it's at least a five-hour drive from Minneapolis). I was terrified of that damn thing as a kid.

4. Thanks.
I caught something, but I don't think it is the flu...and I do not think I will end up with pneumonia like she did.
