I HATE COMMERCIALS!! I really do...
What's the point?

I see the product in the store. I will buy it if I want to try it.

I don't need old people, young people, smiling people, frowning pouty children, or anybody else cajoling me in a sleazy attempt for me to buy their product.

And there are waaaaaaaay too many adjectives in commercials. It's maple flavored syrup. It is not "rich mapley textured flavorful tangy yummy syrup that you can lick off your waffles..." or anything else.

They spend millions for this !^@%, especially the established companies who couldn't even pay people NOT to use their product, and yet the price of the product at the store is as asinine as it is.

And then there are the diet commercials. If the diet works, they wouldn't need to be so vocal in their advertisements. Especially those stupid pills (that don't work, so don't waste your money.)

Even batteries. I don't bloody care if hospitals use Duracell or if the space agencies use Energizer. I'll pick up what's available at the lower price.

What am I missing? I rarely watch broadcast TV and I seem to find everything I need, and more. I avoid broadcast tv particularly because of commercials and their treatment of consumers. Now I might miss out on a sale, but oh well. Just save me the money in the first place by not advertising.

1. Just get TiVo or UltimateTV
That way you can pause your favorite shows for about 15 minutes then start watching and fast forward through the commercials. :-)

2. I hear you.
When I remember that these idiotic messages are propagating through space at the speed of light, I always wonder, "What must the neighbors think?" It's no surprise to me that ET hasn't "phoned home", ET's probably afraid we'll do a hard sell on him/her.

3. Ya know?
I study media, and today in class somebody said, "the media just gives the people what they want."

And I said, "No, the media TELL people what they want."

I despise them, and Michael Powell too. Pure Evil.

4. I really like commercials for Cotton
Those always make me laugh. If cotton stops advertising are people going to stop wearing cotton? Are people going to be like: "cotton? what's that?" I just don't get it.
