Where would you go for a romantic weekend getaway
If you lived in the Northeast?

I have vacation time that rolled over from last year and I have to take the time before the end of March, or I lose it.

We've already been to Provincetown, New Hope and Philadelphia. We lived in NYC for many years, and I still work there, so that's out of the question.

I checked the Poconos today, and no thanks. We're not looking for something like this:

So if you could get away for a few days, where would you visit?

1. not everything in Poconos is Terrible Tacky...LOl that is pretty awful though
Boston?
Great walking town, find a nice B & B in Cambridge and just wander all over the place. Eat in the NOrth End, tour museums, etc.

Berkshires/
Vermont
New Hampshire
upstate NY?

or just hunt down a nice cozy B & B in a town full of oldness and enjoy yourself.

Salem?

Possibly even Boston.

Salem just piqued my interest, so I'm gonna look into that one a bit.

This place looks amazing, but is a bit on the expensive side:

Personally, all I could think of was "Red Rum" and would probably not be able to sleep the entire time, out of fear that Jack Nicholson would break down our door with an ax.

My wife loved it. I loved it because she had a good time. Old Sturbridge Village is like walking back into the 18th century--I came away with a great appreciation of what the founders of our country sent through. Pretty inspirational stuff. Here's a link:

10. I guess it depends what you mean
I don't know the northeast well/at all, but in general, I'd say I'd like to go to a cabin in the woods where we (not you and I, silly, me and the lady) could go for walks. A porch would be essential for drinking coffee in the morning.

http://www.sylvaniatreefarm.com/

In the mountains in PA, along the Delaware River. My boyfriend and I have spent two long weekends there, and there's nothing like it. You have a choice of houses to rent, and it's secluded, romantic, filled with wildlife. There are hiking trails, and unbelievable star-gazing moments if you so desire. Some of the houses have hot-tubs as well.

Money well spent. :)

30. They have a section with little 'cabin' type rooms with beautiful
four poster beds, gorgeous bathrooms and a fire place. It is very, very romantic. We loved it. Very quiet. And, you can spend the days getting spa treatments or exercising, whichever you choose. I had the best facial of my life there because I couldn't really do much else; I was pregnant with TM.

It was wonderful. I highly recommend it.

I think (might be mistaken) that there might even be a kitchenette? You could bring some wine, and chill in front of the fire. Totally romantic.

I hope you have a wonderful time!!! Now's the time to do it, dude, before any little ones arrive. After that, you'll be lucky to hit the bathroom without an audience.

climate like there this time of year? I'm in the NE, too, and am so sick of the cold and the snow...x(

We went in the early fall and stayed in this terrific apartment, living room, two BDs, two BRs and a balcony, which looked right out on the ocean. It was associated with some motel there and was a real hidden gem. The whole town is quite pretty, if you're into architecture, and has some great restaurants. My disappointment was that I hoped to go on a whale watching cruise, but my friends decided to go bird watching. We saw a blue jay and a Baltimore oriole...

There's an adoption seminar weekend we've been meaning to attend, and this year we've promised each other we'd go.

I've always wanted to soak in some hot springs, so hopefully we'll be able to check them out when we're up there.

towns in the state and the Inn is cozy and very charming. Hubby and I went there for a couple of our wedding anniversaries which is New Years Day. Chester is on the CT River. When we were there they had divine food. It was a treat.

The Bee and Thistle Inn in Old Lyme, CT is very nice, too, a little smaller.

My wife and I do this sometimes ... we go to the beach ... find a nice house to rent ... or a hotel with nice amenities ... and then we check out the other sites that we never see when we go to the beach in the summer (because we spend all day on the beach in the summer).

No crowds ... good restaurants are easy to get into ... and if you get a nice hotel, they'll have a pool, a hot tub, a bar.... very relaxing ... and you can play things by ear (like they say in the Cialis commercials).

What else do you need ...
