Man I hate when people burn popcorn at work.
The whole office smells like ass. x(

Of course this is the same office where some genius set one of the microwaves on fire because she neglected to put water in her ramen.

1. You should be fired if you burn popcorn at work.
Clean out your desk and go home.

It's awful.

6. I dunno
Our problem is the vending machine at work sells single serve bags.

Having never burned a bag of popcorn I had no idea how hard some people find it to follow directions.

And don't forget when people spill water, milk or their pasta dish all over the floor and neglect to clean it up.

11. had a manager remove popcorn from the vending machines
after a burned popcorn incident.

People around here have long memories. That happened over 20 years ago, and it still gets mentioned at least once a year.

16. I had one who would throw money down on desk of person with burned popcorn,
order them to take their stinky popcorn to the breakroom or the bathroom, and go down to the microwaves and buy new popcorn and pop it correctly this time.

She kept extra change at her desk for just this purpose.

She was a fierce little woman, but a good team leader

13. LOL!! The last time it happened where I work, the smoke
alarm went off, which is patched to the fire department dispatch.

There was so much smoke, nobody could tell if the damn microwave was on fire.

They ended up sending a commercial building fire assignment which consisted of so much equipment, they couldn't all fit into the parking lot, so some had to park out on the street until they determined there was no fire.

The person responsible wanted to die. lol

You know what else is horrible? When people microwave broccoli and fish. :puke: :puke:

14. Fish in the microwave is the worse.
At my job whenever someone burns popcorn in the microwave or reheats fish, its almost like something crawled out of a trash can and just funked everything.

15. damn straight. There need to be RULES about this sort of thing
you burn it, you dispose of it somewhere not on the office work area, like say the cafeteria area.
you bring leftover fish/seafood, dammit, eat it cold.
never bring any seafood frozen entree to the office
do not throw out anything reeking of fresh onions in your personal trash can, take it at least to the break room.

good enough ?

17. I am SO GLAD I don't sit by the kitchenette anymore
There was somebody in my office who burned popcorn like EVERY FUCKING DAY. The sad part is, we could never find the culprit, so the office just smelled like ass all the time.

Back in the early 90s, I worked at a place that banned microwave popcorn. Not a bad idea.

18. I hate public microwaves period.
They are filthy and disgusting. There are stalagtites growing in there from the 1990s!

Another burnt microwave story.... the home ec teacher used to let the kids make microwave popcorn! OMG... the entire school would reek for days.

We used to be allowed to have our own microwaves until some genius pencil-pusher decided they used up too much electicity. They don't care about the 10 people wasting their entire lunch break while every one cooks some frozen weight-watchers meal, though.

:banghead:

20. Or in a college dorm
When I was in college we had 3 fire drills in ONE NIGHT because people kept burning popcorn and setting it off. I bet it was the same dumbass 3 times.

21. We get to evacuate the building every time someone burns popcorn -
One of the microwaves is situated right below a very sensitive smoke detector and the building has a very annoying - no, distressing - alarm that goes up to 140 db and has a primary tone that's almost only audible to dogs within 90 seconds. The big boss is "this close" to banning microwave popcorn from the building - he was in the middle of a Video Teleconference with a Congresscritter and the GAO when one went off.
