The aircraft sure had a lot of problems according to Wiki.

2. The HUN? Not in this life!
The F-100 was one of the greatest aircraft ever built! A few 50-cal rounds in the front of the compressor section? Compressor stalls? Kick in the afterburner! Maybe make the tanker. If not, coast-out and bail-out!

I like Misty-40's (Dick Rutan) description of an battle-damaged F-4C that he inspected from his F-100F cockpit: "Ugliest fighter ever. Too many engines and too many seats!" Amen!
